Victor Orta aiming to reunite with Wolves star as Leeds battle Tottenham for signing

Leeds United are still very keen on signing Adama Traore from Wolves and are preparing to rival Tottenham for him, TEAMtalk understands.
Traore was linked with a Tottenham switch in January 2022, when he was first looking for a route out of Wolves. Ultimately, he ended up at Barcelona and spent the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign with the Spanish giants.
The winger got off to a good start back in La Liga, registering assists in his first two matches. Traore also set up two goals as Barca picked up an impressive 4-2 victory over Napoli in the Europa League knockout round play-off, which sent them through.
However, Traore’s influence on the team gradually waned and his goal involvements dried up.
The pacy player returned to Molineux in the summer. He has since made 18 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals.
But he has completed a full 90 minutes in the Premier League on just two occasions, with new Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui using him as a second-half substitute in recent matches.
Traore is out of contract in the summer and looks set to leave Wolves on a free transfer. Sources have told TEAMtalk he is wanted by a number of clubs, including Tottenham. They are long-term admirers of the 26-year-old and are still in the mix to sign him.
Victor Orta plots reunion with attacker
But Victor Orta, Leeds’ sporting director, is keen to bring him to Elland Road. Orta signed Traore for Middlesbrough during his time with them, and he has never given up on his desire to be reunited with him.
TEAMtalk understands Traore, who turns 27 this month, is keen on staying in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Italian reports claim a Moroccan star currently playing in Serie A might replace Mateusz Klich at Leeds.
