Leeds close to landing long-term target after fighting off Prem rivals, with Birmingham powerless to Whites pursuit

Leeds United are closing in on the signing of Birmingham City midfielder George Hall in January, TEAMtalk understands.
Leeds look set for a midfield revamp in 2023. Mateusz Klich, who has been at Elland Road since 2017, is set for an exciting move to America’s MLS.
According to MLS Soccer, Klich is on the brink of joining Wayne Rooney’s DC United this winter.
And the Pole could be followed out of Leeds by Adam Forshaw. He will be out of contract come the end of the season, so January represents Leeds’ last chance to sell for a fee.
To offset the departures of those two experienced players, Leeds can promote Darko Gyarbi from their U21s. He joined the Whites from Manchester City in July and has since impressed in the Premier League Two division.
And Leeds are also set to raid Birmingham for Hall, sources have told TEAMtalk . They have held a long-term interest in the England Under-19 international, having tried to sign him during the summer transfer window. Birmingham resisted Leeds’ overtures for the prized asset in the summer.
But the failed takeover of the club by Paul Richardson and Maxi Lopez could force the cash-strapped Blues to sell Hall when the transfer window reopens in January.
Leeds are ready to capitalise on Birmingham’s takeover issues and pounce for Hall as they look to fend off interest from several Premier League rivals for his signature.
Leeds view George Hall as star in the making
Hall is highly-regarded at Birmingham and he has made 18 Championship appearances this season, scoring once and providing an assist.
Leeds see Hall as a potential star in the making, capable of developing into a first-team player for Jesse Marsch in the near future.
Leeds have a proven track record in recent years of signing young players to bolster their academy ranks and Hall could be the latest shrewd addition to their setup.
