Hakim Ziyech: Charles De Ketelare transfer saga repeated as AC Milan ready move for reported Leeds United target

Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea FC applauds the fans following the final whistle of the UEFA Champions League match at the Bernabeu

AC Milan are reportedly looking to launch a move to sign Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech on loan this summer.

Ziyech has been linked with a move to Leeds United throughout the transfer window. The Moroccan has been inconsistent with his performances at Chelsea, and as a result looks to be moving on. However, Leeds now face competition with AC Milan also preparing an offer.

That’s according to CalcioMercato, who claim the Rossoneri are hoping to land Ziyech next month.

Leeds United had been eyeing Ziyech as a potential replacement to Raphinha. The Brazilian winger was influential at Elland Road last season, but has recently signed for Barcelona.

But Jesse Marsch’s side now risk missing out once again on an attacking target. And once again, it could be AC Milan that are repsonsible for the failed transfer.

This comes after Charles De Ketelaere looks set to complete his move to the Serie A champions in the next few days.

Leeds had launched a £33.5m bid to Club Brugge for De Ketelaere. However, the 21-year-old is going to snub a move to England in favour of Champions League football.

Once again, Champions League football may be a factor for Ziyech. To that end, reports earlier this summer suggested he was ready to say yes on a move to the San Siro.

He made nine appearances for Chelsea last season in the competition, and will likely want to feature again next campaign.

Marsch now faces a tough decision on what to do next as this news emerges. Leeds must decide whether to continue their pursuit of Ziyech, or look at alternative options.

Hakim Ziyech would be perfect Raphinha replacement

Targeting players such as Ziyech and De Ketelaere, it’s clear Leeds are looking for serious talent to replace Raphinha.
Ziyech was a regular in the Chelsea line-up last season, making 23 league appearances and seven goal contributions in that time.

The 29-year-old may have struggled during his time at Stamford Bridge, but it’s clear that he is a skilful player.

In 35 league appearances, Raphinha had 14 goal contributions for Leeds last season. He terrorised the opposition defence, and was a standout player for the club.

His presence will certainly be missed next season, and having only narrowly avoided relegation last season, the club must find a solid replacement.

Leeds are in a battle with AC Milan for Belgian youngster Charles De Ketelaere.

With Premier League experience Ziyech could fill this role. However, whether the Morrocan international would be interested in a move to Elland Road remains to be seen.
