Leeds rival Rangers in £6m transfer battle after registering interest in Josh Tymon

Leeds United have registered an interest in Stoke City full-back Josh Tymon, but face competition from two other suitors, a report has claimed.
Tymon is emerging off the back of a busy season with Stoke, whom he represented 48 times in all competitions. All but one of his appearances in the 2021-22 campaign were starts.
It was by far the most productive season of his career so far. Indeed, Tymon played more times in 2021-22 than he had in the other four years of his Stoke spell combined.
As a result, the left-back has attracted a few potential suitors. Recently, Rangers were linked with a swoop for the 23-year-old.
Their interest has been confirmed by Football Insider, but their report reveals Leeds United and Norwich City have also joined the race to sign him.
Leeds could consider moving for a new left-back due to Junior Firpo failing to convince during his debut season with the club. Furthermore, Stuart Dallas will miss the start of the season through injury.
A move for Tymon would represent a return to Yorkshire for the former Hull City academy graduate. He played three times in the Premier League during the season the Tigers were relegated, before joining Stoke on a free transfer.
Now, he could step back up to the top-flight with Leeds. Alternatively, he could continue elsewhere in the Championship with Norwich, who finished bottom of the 2021-22 Premier League.
Dean Smith is preparing for his first full season in charge and will be hoping to lead the Canaries straight back up. They had Brandon Williams on loan from Manchester United last season, but now may need a new left-back.
Rangers remain in the hunt, though, and could offer Tymon a route to the Scottish Premiership instead. In addition, they will have Champions League qualification to play for.
Well aware of the mounting interest in Tymon, who is under contract until 2025, Stoke have reportedly set an asking price of £6million. They would prefer to keep him this summer.
Leeds could find new full-back useful amid Josh Tymon links
It has already been a busy summer transfer window for Leeds. They have added Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Darko Gyabi and Tyler Adams to their ranks.
After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, they have acknowledged the importance of squad depth.
Hence, they may yet want to add more cover at left-back, especially since Firpo is yet to prove himself in the Premier League.
Bidding for Tymon, whose asking price isn’t huge, may help them rectify any concerns in that region.
But competition from a club as big as Rangers cannot be underestimated. Also, Norwich could have their own convincing pitch to make.
Only time will tell what happens with Tymon this summer.
