Kalvin Phillips: Two more bids arrive for Leeds star, as midfielder makes clear transfer choice and timeline for move emerges

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is adamant he wants to leave his boyhood club for one team in particular amid claims two more bids for his services have arrived on the boardroom table at Elland Road.
The England midfielder has risen from the academy at Leeds to become a regular for his national side. But with two years left on his Leeds deal and, with a contract dwarved in comparison to his Three Lions teammates, a move looks on the cards. As such, there are no shortage of potential takers for the 26-year-old.
Indeed, he has been the subject of an approach from Manchester City at the back end of last week. Pep Guardiola sees Phillips as a perfect addition to his side, having lost the services of Fernadinho at the end of the season.
And it’s claimed City believe they can convince Leeds to sell for a fee of around £45m-£50m.
However, City will not seemingly have things all their own way. Reports emerged on Monday evening that PSG are also keen on Phillips. Indeed, the Yorkshire Evening Post claims Leeds officials have taken a call from the Ligue 1 giants to ascertain his situation.
Now the saga has been further complicated after two more bidders threw their hat into the ring.
As per Football Insider, both West Ham and Aston Villa have also lodged bids with Leeds to sign Phillips.
The pair have long standing links with Phillip too. The Hammers saw a £50m January offer knocked back due to Leeds’ ongoing battle to avoid relegation.
Timeline for Kalvin Phillips transfer
Villa, meanwhile, also tried to land Phillips back in 2019 upon Leeds’ promotion failure. And while that bid was snubbed at the time, their interest in him has never waned.
Indeed, Villa are among the clubs to have most actively pursued Phillips over recent months.
However, despite the late efforts to prise him, Football Insider is adamant Phillips has his heart set on Manchester City.
As such, citing a source they claim they expect Phillips to complete his big-money move to the Etihad within the next few weeks.
The news will come as a big blow for Leeds and their supporters with Phillips a hugely popular and influential figure.
The Whites are reportedly considering a move for RB Leipzig’s Tyler Adams should Phillips depart.
City the only choice for midfielder
All said and done, City are the best and only choice for Phillips to make.
The midfielder turns 27 later this year and the chance to move to City may never come his way again.
He can develop his game even more under Pep Guardiola’s leadership. In addition, the exit of Fernandinho – coupled with City’s quest to win four trophies – means he will get games for the Cityzens.
And the chance to win trophies will also encourage Phillips to make the move. Furthermore, their reported offer of £200,000 a week to the player is far more than Leeds could ever match.

In addition, it’s perhaps the only move Kalvin Phillips could make which won’t totally sour his relations with Leeds fans.
He would not be allowed back inthe city were he to join Manchester United. Similarly, moves to Chelsea or Liverpool would be equally frowned upon.
Leeds, meanwhile, also have a battle on their hands to keep Raphinha. To that end, a report has assessed Arsenal’s chances of getting a deal done, though they only appear the winger’s third choice.
