Leeds United told of major transfer fear ‘amazing’ ace is quickly instilling

Former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips fears Leeds United may struggle to keep hold of Raphinha after his stock continued to rise after a tremendous Brazil outing.

Leeds have struggled to match the heights they achieved last year so far in the current campaign. They currently sit 16th, having won just one game.

Despite the club beginning the season poorly, Raphinha has starred throughout and is gaining stardom.

The Brazilian has scored three goals in seven games in the Premier League, and was recently called up to the Brazil squad.

The winger starred in his second Brazil appearance, making two assists in just 45 minutes against Venezuela. His stunning form has not gone unnoticed, with Brazil stalwart Thiago Silva heaping praise on the 24-year-old.

Additionally, Kevin Phillips feels that after Raphinha’s key performances for club and country, Leeds have themselves a gem of a player.

“His stock is rising, big time. To perform like that for Brazil, it doesn’t really get any better.” he told Football Insider.

“We know the impact he has had on the Premier League. He has been amazing. But, to do it for Brazil is just brilliant. It puts his stock even higher.”

Bruno Fernandes is said to be pushing Manchester United to move for Leeds' Raphinha, with more updates on Dusan Vlahovic and Noa Lang.

Though Phillips also feels that there are pros and cons to his stellar form. As such, he may be of interest to bigger clubs soon.

“But, on the other hand you fear that there will be a lot of interest from other clubs next year,” he added. “They might try and nick him.

Interest from the Premier League vultures has indeed been registered over the past few months.

Liverpool were linked with the rising Brazilian over the summer, while Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes was reported to be working on bringing Raphinha to Old Trafford after the duo struck up an impressive connection during their time at Sporting Lisbon.

Uncertain futures at Leeds

Breeding talented players can be a blessing and a curse for a football team. When a player is performing consistently, and the team is not, there are worries for the future.

That is currently the case for Leeds and Kalvin Phillips. There are worries that he may forgo a new contract and move on to pastures new.

The England men’s player of the year has gained major recognition of late for his performances in an England shirt.

Leeds are eager to tie the midfielder down to a new contract before the end of the year. As such, they are looking to make Phillips their highest paid player, possibly in order to cement a deal, but also as proof of his value to the club.

Should Phillips not sign a new deal soon, interest will remain from a number of parties.
