Leeds Utd transfer news: Victor Orta closes on Rasmus Kristensen amid reports of deals for three more

Leeds United are reportedly edging closer towards the signing of Rasmus Kristensen – and also have a number of other transfers in their sights.

The Whites sailed desperately close to the relegation wind this season, only surviving with a final day win at Brentford. Their squad was decimated by injuries and while a mitigating factor, their failure to strengthen in January, almost cost them dear. As such, they have quickly got to work this window on strengthening their squad.

Indeed, they secured to signing of USA midfielder Brenden Aaronson within days of confirming their safety. He has joined Leeds in a £24m deal from RB Salzburg.

And it seems a second swoop on the Austrian club is also well underway with a deal for Kristensen in their sights.

The Denmark right-back opened up on links to Leeds over the weekend, making clear his appreciation of the Yorkshire club.

Now transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims Leeds have a ‘full agreement’ to complete the signing of Kristensen. That move is likely to go through as soon as Denmark’s summer internationals are over.

Having beaten France, they have three more games, with the last coming against Austria next Monday. A deal to bring him to Elland Road, worth around £10m, will likely be announced shortly afterwards.

And chairman Andrea Radrizzani appeared to drop a further hint on his possible signing on social media. Responding to a quote from Kristensen about Leeds, the United chief ‘liked’ the comment, giving another firm suggestion a deal is on the cards.

Leeds, however, will not stop there.

Three more deals for Leeds after Rasmus Kristensen

And the Daily Express claims the club are in talks over three other deals before the window shuts.

Next on their agenda is two American-based players, with club officials currently across the Atlantic for negotiations.

And while neither of these players has been named, there are strong suggestions that one is Valentin Castellanos.

The New York City FC striker has a formidable record in MLS, scoring 53 goals in 130 appearances.

Sister club Manchester City are understood to have passed up an opportunity to sign him, opening the door for a move to Leeds.

Raphinha and Minamino swap deal?

Leeds United’s Raphinha was expected to join Barcelona this summer but due to their financial issues, Liverpool could swoop in and take their man, with a player plus cash deal for Minamino on the table.

While Leeds are reportedly in the driving seat for Castellanos, they are also said to be working on a deal for another ‘American-based player’.

Leeds United are also reportedly looking to strengthen their central defence. Having shipped a woeful 79 goals this season, it is an area of obvious weakness.

Granted, the tactics employed by Marcelo Bielsa and the long-term loss of Liam Cooper did leave Leeds exposed.

However, it’s an area that Jesse Marsch wants to improve as he aims to tighten up his leaky backline.

The Whites have been mentioned as possible suitors for James Tarkowski. However, that’s a deal that looks unlikely, with the Burnley man poised to sign for Everton on huge wages.
