Date set for Marc Roca medical as Leeds United near home stretch after striking agreement with Bayern Munich

Leeds United have booked Marc Roca in for a medical on Friday after resolving the final details of his transfer with Bayern Munich, it has been revealed.

After securing the signings of Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen, Leeds have been focusing their energies on adding Roca recently. The Spaniard has emerged as a top target to bolster their midfield ranks.

Optimism has been growing regarding their pursuit. Indeed, reports have suggested they are going to beat several clubs to his signature.

A further update on Tuesday revealed Leeds had struck an agreement with Roca’s agent over personal terms. He will sign a contract until 2026, should all go to plan.

All that remained was for Leeds to agree a transfer fee with current employers Bayern, who have only used him sparingly during two seasons in Germany. Now, the deal seems to be done.

According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Leeds have now reached an agreement with Bayern to acquire Roca. As such, they are one step away from making him their third signing of the summer.

The permanent transfer will supposedly cost Leeds a figure in the region of €10m (£8.9m). Di Marzio reports that the two clubs are now exchanging documents to finalise the deal.

Then, the final hurdle will be for Roca to travel to England for his medical. According to Di Marzio, that will take place on Friday, after which he will put pen to paper on his contract.

It is fair to say Leeds have been proactive with this summer’s transfer window. Not even midway through June, they have already reunited Jesse Marsch with two players he trusts.

Now, they are ready to strengthen the ranks further with a reinforcement in a position they have needed to improve for a while.

One of the reasons they were in relegation danger in the 2021-22 season was a failure to act in the January transfer window. This time, they are not being caught napping.

And the pedigree of players they are attracting is also promising. Aaronson and Kristensen both won the Austrian title with RB Salzburg last season, while Roca was a member of the Bayern squad that claimed Bundesliga honours.

All the arrivals so far have a good blend of experience and potential. Leeds will be hoping that signing number three can become official by the end of the week.
