Midfielder makes Leeds transfer wish clear as Victor Orta sets out one demand

Mateusz Bogusz is hoping to make a permanent exit from Leeds United after impressing during his spell on loan with UD Ibiza in Segunda Division.

The Polish midfielder is currently in his second season on loan in the Spanish second division, having played for UD Logrones last season. He struggled at the Estadio Las Gaunas, having started just nine times and scoring just once as they suffered relegation.

However, it’s a different story this time around with Bogusz thriving on the white isle. Indeed, he has already matched his number of starts last season, but, having tripled his goals output, he’s clearly adapting much quicker to his latest loan spell.

And it seems Bogusz is well liked by Ibiza too, with the player seemingly one of the first names on their teamsheet.

Now the 20-year-old has made clear his intentions to make the move permanent.

Speaking to Super Express, via HITC, Bogusz openly admits he is enjoying himself in Ibiza and sees himself making his stay more permanent.

“Honestly, I didn’t like it at Logrones. We mainly defended on the pitch.

“Ibiza is completely different. We play a lot here and want to keep the ball. It suits me. It suits my style. If I could, I would like to stay in Spain.”

And while Bogusz is highly-regarded by Marcelo Bielsa, his prospects at Elland Road do appear fairly bleak.

During his time at Leeds, the Poland U21 international has appeared just three times under the Argentine. As such, he appears a long way down Leeds’ pecking order.

Leeds will reportedly command upwards of £50m for a summer sale of winger Raphinha, much to the dismay of their fans, with more updates on Kalvin Phillips and Todd Cantwell.

Indeed, as per Sportowe Fakty, Leeds are willing to discuss the sale of Bogusz next summer. However, they state Victor Orta will insist on a buy-back clause in any permanent departure for the 20-year-old.

The Polish source claims that Leeds’ director of football is likely to ask for this to be set at £7m. That will grant Leeds the chance to trigger a return to Elland Road for Bogusz should he become an even greater success in Spain.

Beckford discusses Leeds struggles

Leeds United, meanwhile, are lacking two traits in the final third that Bielsa’s sides are usually known for exhibiting, according to Jermaine Beckford.

In 12 matches this season, the Whites have plundered just 11 goals. Three of those came against lower league Crewe Alexandra in the EFL Cup second round.

Such a lack of potency would have been unfathomable just a few short months ago. Indeed, Bielsa’s side took the Premier League by storm last year with their free-flowing brand of football.

Former Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford was working as a pundit on Sky Sports during their defeat to Arsenal.

Beckford acknowledged the absences of key forwards as one factor inhibiting their attacking output. Both Patrick Bamford and Raphinha were missing through injury.

However, Beckford pointed to a lack of relentless and ruthlessness in the final third as a major issue afflicting Leeds.

“Intensity wise it was right up there,” said Beckford. “Quality-wise, in the final third especially, not quite there. That has been one of the main issues for Leeds United this season.

“Getting into the final third, creating opportunities has not really been anything to worry about. But having some at the right place at the right time to put the ball in the back of the net, you have to be more relentless and ruthless in front of goal. That’s especially true at this level.

“They’ve missed key players. That makes an impact on sides with smaller squads in terms of getting the right players fit at the right times.

“Being able to show the quality on the field is the next step in Leeds United’s evolution under Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League.”
