Potential peril for Leeds as report claims star has been offered to Barcelona

Rodrigo Moreno, Raphinha celebrate goal for Leeds at Newcastle United

In a surprising turn of events, Leeds United attacker Rodrigo Moreno has reportedly been offered to La Liga giants Barcelona.

Leeds have found themselves in a tough spot for much of the season. Indeed, injuries and Covid troubles have left them with a weakened side from what we saw last season.

As such, the Whites have struggled for form, and currently sit 15th in the Premier League.

A report from Mundo Deportivo, per Sport Witness, surprisingly claims Rodrigo has been offered to Barcelona. Those reports will come as unwelcome news to Leeds fans.

Rodrigo has missed six games on the spin recently due to injury. However, his return to the side in January should be an encouraging sign for the Whites.

As such, it seems strange that one of their star players would be offered away. Despite him not having the greatest impact at Leeds – scoring nine goals in 45 games – he is still a competent player.

He was, however, more explosive during his time in La Liga. The Spaniard was directly involved in 71 goals in 172 La Liga fixtures, and netted 18 times in the 2017/18 season.

As such, it would make sense if Barca were to take a keen interest. Of their players this season, only Memphis Depay has scored more than five goals, and adding a proven goalscorer in Spain would be a good addition.

Leeds forward Rodrigo has reportedly been offered to Spanish giants Barcelona.

Furthermore, Rodrigo would likely be keen himself. He could return to a league he was so prolific in during his previous spell.

In addition, the forward has played just twice for Spain since the back end of 2020. However, he could stake his claim for La Roja’s World Cup squad should he play well for Barcelona.

Broja could replace Rodrigo at Leeds

Should Rodrigo leave Leeds, it seems they already have the perfect replacement lined up, in Armando Broja. In fact, their interest in Broja would remain should Rodrigo stay, as they would then have more depth up top.

Broja, currently on loan at Southampton, is being eyed up by a number of Prem sides.

Everton, Wolves and West Ham have all been linked, with Southampton obviously keen too.

Broja would add a presence in front of goal that Leeds have lacked with Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford missing. As such, it is clear to see why they are keen on bringing in the Albania international.
