Predicted Leeds team for trip to Wolves: Marsch poised for big Phillips, Cooper calls

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch on the touchline during the Premier League match at Elland Road,

Following a crucial win last time out, the predicted Leeds team to face Wolves could see the Whites boosted by returns for Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper.

The Whites have struggled for form for much of this season. Indeed, they went on a six-game losing streak between February and March.

Jesse Marsch took over from Marcelo Bielsa following a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham. The American coach did not fare much better in his first couple of games in charge, losing 1-0 and then 3-0 to Leicester City and Aston Villa respectively.

However, Marsch’s side prevailed in the relegation six-pointer against Norwich City last time out. Leeds won in stoppage time courtesy of a Joe Gelhardt strike.

Injuries have been a big concern for the Whites this season. That being said, they might be boosted by the return of a couple of big players, per Marsch’s pre-match press conference.

“Big boost for them [Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper] personally, but the presence they have in our team,” said Marsch.

“Big positive momentum swing for our group. Both quality players, great personalities. Make us stronger and stronger. See what the plan will be for their minutes, but just having them in training is big.

“Same as Patrick [Bamford]. Make a plan and stick to the plan. I am very disciplined when it comes to managing the players physically. Need a fully-fit and healthy team.”

Last time out – Leeds 2-1 Norwich City

Illan Meslier played in goal, and had a much better time than he had during the losing run. The two full-backs were Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas.

The centre-back pairing was Diego Llorente and Pascal Struijk.

Kalvin Phillips to get massive wage from Newcastle

Kalvin Phillips is a target for Aston Villa and West Ham this summer but Newcastle believe there offer will get their man

Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich started in the holding-midfield positions.

The attacking-midfield roles were occupied by Daniel James, Rodrigo – who scored the opener – and Raphinha.

Bamford returned to the side for the first time since mid-December to play up front.

Predicted Leeds team against Wolves

Following the win, the Leeds side is not likely to change all too much.

Meslier will likely start in goal. The full-backs may once again be Ayling and Dallas.

Llorente and Struijk could play in the heart of the defence – Marsch will likely not want to risk starting Cooper until he is fully fit.

Forshaw and Klich could play ahead of the defence, while Phillips could be given a run out from the bench. Attacking sparks James, Rodrigo and Raphinha could all start again.

There has been speculation swirling on social media regarding Raphinha’s availability. However, that cannot be verified at this time.

Bamford may be utilised as the lone striker again.

Predicted Leeds XI: Meslier; Ayling, Llorente, Struijk, Dallas; Forshaw, Klich; James, Rodrigo, Raphinha; Bamford
