Raphinha has confirmed that the injury that forced him off for Leeds United against Wolves on Saturday was “nothing serious”.

Leeds will have been worried when Raphinha limped off in the 54th minute of their game against Wolves. They were 1-0 down at the time, but eventually clinched a late equaliser. Even so, concerns about their star player continued beyond the final whistle.

Raphinha has been brilliant for Leeds ever since joining from Rennes last summer. He provided six goals and nine assists in his debut Premier League season.

That form has carried over into the current season, in which he has three goals from eight games so far.

The Brazilian has also been turning heads when playing for his national team after making his debut earlier this month.

Consequently, Leeds are now growing worried that they may not be able to enjoy his talents for much longer. Indeed, several clubs have been linked with signing him in a future transfer window.

But their immediate concerns will merely be on Raphinha’s fitness after an injury that Marcelo Bielsa did not know the extent of at the time of his post-match interviews.

The number 10, who left Elland Road on crutches yesterday, has now clarified the situation himself, though. And he will have prompted a sigh of relief among Leeds fans.

“Hello guys, just coming to say I’m fine,” he posted on Instagram.

“It was nothing serious, so I’m back soon. Thank you for the messages and concern.”

Leeds have won just one of their opening nine games in the Premier League. After a Carabao Cup tie with Arsenal on Tuesday, they will have games against Norwich and Leicester City before the November international break.

Bielsa will surely be hoping to have Raphinha available for some of them, although there is no timeframe on his return yet despite the promising message.

Raphinha already outgrowing Leeds United

As mentioned, though, Leeds will be worried about how much longer Raphinha will be theirs.

Although he is under contract until 2024, his level of ability suggests he should not be playing for a side currently hovering above the relegation zone.

Liverpool are believed to be major admirers of the 24-year-old, while his agent Deco has also suggested Chelsea, Manchester United or Manchester City could make a move.

Deco believes Raphinha would be worth around €60m in that case.

Either way, one of his former coaches thinks he is already getting too big for Leeds.

Vitor Campelos, who used to be the coach of Vitoria Guimaraes B, told Record: “He was always aware of his skills, believed in himself a lot, and with dedication managed to reach the level where he is today.

“Now, with the call to the national team and scoring goals, Leeds will already be too small for him.”

All he can do is focus on them, though, while he remains under contract. He will be hoping to be back on the pitch to remind of his qualities soon.
