Raphinha saga nears conclusion as Barcelona rise from ashes to snatch transfer from under Chelsea

Raphinha, Leeds United's Brazilian winger, celebrates his penalty in the 2-1 win over Brentford

Trusted journalist Gerard Romero has revealed that Barcelona are soon to complete the deal for Leeds United star Raphinha.

Raphinha has long been reported as one of Barcelona’s main targets. Indeed, the potential signing is a saga that has been going on for months.

It is clear to see why the La Liga giants are so keen on the Brazilian. Raphinha notched 11 goals and provided three assists for Leeds in his second season at the club.

That haul of goals made him the top goalscorer for the club last season. What’s more, he was within the top 15 scorers across the whole of the Premier League.

Raphinha also broke onto the international scene over the past year. He made his debut at the back end of 2021, and provided a pair of assists on his debut. He has scored three goals in nine appearances for his country.

While his exploits caught the attention of Barcelona, a few more clubs also became keen on the star. Chelsea and Arsenal provided an opportunity for him to remain in the Premier League.

However, Raphinha’s desire has always been to move to Barcelona. Indeed, that put a stumbling block in place for both of those sides, despite a fee with the Blues having been agreed.

It appears that the Whites star may soon get his wish, too. While Barcelona’s ability to pay Leeds the £60million they demand has been questioned, journalist Romero claims they have offered that sum.

He reports that the sides are ‘about to close’ the deal for Raphinha.

In addition to the £60million Barcelona have reportedly offered, Romero claims Raphinha will make £6million per season.

Raphinha to Barca great move for all parties

It has been well reported that Raphinha is keen on a move to Barcelona. With that being said, he will be more than happy if the deal does go through.

Barca have been determined to land the star for months, too. Moving to La Liga, and following in the footsteps of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to up Raphinha’s game, and he could become one of the world’s best talents.

While Leeds will not be all too thrilled about losing the major star, they will be able to recruit well with the fee they receive.

As such, the deal seems a good one for all parties, if Barcelona can indeed pay the required fee.
