Leeds star Robin Koch lauds new arrival, with Jesse Marsch’s squad backed for ‘enormous’ improvement

Leeds star Robin Koch

Leeds United defender Robin Koch is excited about the club’s summer transfer business and has praised one new arrival in particular.

The Whites have sold Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City and Raphinha is also close to leaving. But they have prepared for these exits by bringing in six players so far.

Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen have both arrived from Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg. Aaronson cost £24.7million, while Kristensen cost around £10m.

Spanish defensive midfielder Marc Roca has penned a four-year contract with Leeds after joining from Bayern, and Tyler Adams will rival him for Phillips’ place in the team following his move from RB Leipzig.

Luis Sinisterra and Darko Gyabi have signed from Feyenoord and City respectively, taking Leeds’ summer signings to six.

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch will be hoping these new arrivals can offset the departures of Phillips and Raphinha, as well as push the Whites up the Premier League table.

Last season, they narrowly avoided relegation by finishing in 17th place and on 38 points.

During an interview with German outlet Bild, centre-back Koch was asked about the new signings.

He went on to praise USA international Adams, calling the 23-year-old a ‘top player’.

“Of course. I am happy about every reinforcement,” Koch said.

“The club has done a great job. Tyler, in particular, has often shown what he can do in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig.

“He’s a top player, and from what I can tell from the first few days, he’s also a top guy. He and the other newcomers will strengthen our team enormously.”

Adams certainly has good pedigree. He has made 75 appearances in the Bundesliga during his career and is also capped 19 times by the USA.

Adams helped Leipzig win the German cup last season too, so Leeds appear to be getting a very good player on their hands.

Adams and Roca have big shoes to fill when it comes to Phillips. The Englishman was integral to Leeds getting back into the Prem and then finishing ninth the season before last.

Despite the exits of two of their star players, Leeds supporters can rest easy knowing their club has done pretty much all it can do to replace them and improve other positions.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Charles De Ketelaere, who is a target for both Leeds and AC Milan.
