Leeds United have been tipped to go back in for Ryan Kent, who they attempted to snare when Marcelo Bielsa was at the helm.
Kent was a top target of Leeds‘ when Bielsa was in charge at the club. Indeed, the Elland Road outfit made a couple of bids for the winger, but failed to pull off the signing. Clearly, Bielsa was a big admirer of the Rangers man. The Whites were tipped to go back in for another bid last summer, following the two they had already made.
Kent has been a mainstay of the Rangers side for the past few seasons. He has contributed to 73 goals in 193 games with the Scottish champions.
He has been in good form this season too, having contributed to 16 goals in all competitions. As such, it appears Leeds are once again interested in taking him to Elland Road.
A Football Insider report claims he is still on their radar, despite Bielsa’s departure. Furthermore, they could attempt to sign him, once their Premier League survival is confirmed.
Leeds are currently seven points above the drop zone, with eight games still to play.
Their good form since Jesse Marsch has taken over at the club has eased the pressure. Indeed, the Whites have won their last two games, with victories over Norwich City and Wolves.
Raphinha agrees terms with Barcelona as Leeds exit likely
Raphinha is set to leave Leeds United for Barcelona this summer and has agreed terms with the La Liga side
As such, the potential snare of Kent could finally be on the cards.
Of course, that is dependant on whether or not Rangers are willing to sell. Leeds’ attempts to sign the star have been rebuffed a couple of times before.
Kent deal could be for record fee
Kent is believed to have a £20million release clause in his contract. A deal of that size would surpass the £16million that Rangers made when they sold Nathan Patterson to Everton in January.
Whether or not Leeds would be willing to pay the £20million is another question. Their last bid for Kent was reported to be in the region of £11million.
However, a potential Leeds transfer could see them come into a decent sum of money. It is being reported that Raphinha could be on his way out of the club, and Leeds are likely to demand a hefty fee.
As such, Kent would not only be an apt replacement, but a deal for Raphinha would more than pay for the signing of the Rangers man.
