Leeds United tipped to finalise three more January signings with battling Serie A midfielder the top target

Leeds United are reportedly gearing up for an extremely busy January transfer window with the club looking to make three more signings before the window closes.

The Whites are currently 14th in the Premier League, but just two points clear of the relegation zone. However, with at least one game in hand over many of their rivals in the bottom half, Leeds can pull five clear of the drop zone by beating West Ham on Wednesday night.

Indeed, the match against the Hammers may go a long way towards either sides’ hopes of avoiding the drop with David Moyes’ team down in 17th.

Jesse Marsch’s side go into the game already boosted by one January signing already. To that end, Leeds completed the signing of versatile Austrian defender Maximilian Wober earlier this week in a deal that could top £17.7m.

However, it seems Leeds are far from done this month and they are reportedly looking to add another attacking option. With that in mind, trusted reporter Phil Hay claims the Whites have an interest in signing Coventry striker Viktor Goykeres.

Now reports in Italy claim Leeds have more targets in mind and are pushing to get three more deals done before the month is out.

Their top target is reportedly Torino midfielder Sasa Lukic, whose contract is due to expire in summer 2024.

The Whites have been linked with the Serbian star before but are ready to up the chase amid claims that Mateusz Klich is to leave Elland Road.

Klich is in talks over a move to MLS side DC United and may reportedly make his final appearance at Elland Road on Wednesday.

TEAMtalk was the first to reveal back in November that Klich was pushing to leave Leeds.

Leeds learn Sasa Lukic fee

While more of a holding midfielder, it’s thought Lukic will give Leeds the cover and competition they need for Tyler Adams and Marc Roca.

The former recently served a suspension, while the latter is currently walking a discplinary tightrope with three games to go before the cut-off.

And while Leeds have used Adam Forshaw again in recent matches, he too falls out of contract come the summer.

Any deal for Lukic is likely to set Leeds back a fee of around £13.2m (€15m) with Torino Granata claiming the Whites are stepping up their interest.

Beyond Lukic, Leeds are also competing with Torino for the signing of Sampdoria attacking midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri.

The Morocco star, capped seven times by his country, has just two goals to his name this season. He did, however, register an assist for his country at the 2022 World Cup as the north Africans caused the surprise of the tournament by reaching the semi-finals.

He is rated at around the £8.8m (€10m) mark by the Serie A strugglers.

And according to the report, Leeds are also reportedly still pushing to sign Valencia’s left-back Jesus Vazquez. The 20-year-old left-back has impressed when called upon, making four appearances this season and 17 over 2021/22.

Vazquez’s deal at the Mestalla is due to expire in 2025. However, a clause in his contract allows him to leave if he does not play for a certain amount of minutes. And Leeds, despite already signing a left-back option in Wober, remain on his trail.
