Leeds United are being tipped as the next destination for Wolves star Adama Traore with the prospective deal getting a big seal of approval from trusted transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The Whites have been inconsistent this season under Jesse Marsch. They have showcased their talents with eye-catching wins against Chelsea at Elland Road and over Liverpool at Anfield. But they remain two of just four matches they have won from 14 played in the Premier League this season.

As such, they will be looking to the January transfer window to try and strengthen their squad and further their survival prospects. Top of their agenda is a new left-back, with TEAMtalk here looking at five potential options for Leeds to consider.

And Marsch and director of football Victor Orta also want to add more goals to their attack. Patrick Bamford is now a calendar year without a goal, having last notched in a 2-2 draw with Brentford on December 16. And while injuries have contributed greatly to that delay, the 99-goal striker clearly lacks from confidence in front of goal.

His situation is in direct contrast to record signing Rodrigo. Thankfully for Leeds, Marsch has found a way to get a tune from the £27m man, with the forward netting nine times in 13 games so far this season.

However, his deal expires in 2024 giving Leeds plenty to consider. The club will either offer him a new deal or cut their losses and sell him next summer.

Either way, it is clear they need another option to cover in attack.

Leeds ideally placed to sign Adama Traore

One position Leeds do seem blessed in is on the wings. While Raphinha left in a club-record £52m move to Barcelona in the summer, they still have Crysencio Summerville, Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra as options. Indeed, Summerville scored four times in as many games prior to the break for the World Cup.

And he will hope to recapture that form when the season resumes at home to Man City on December 28.

However, doubts remain over the future of Harrison, with Newcastle again being tipped to seal a £35m deal in January.

His departure would open up a space in the squad and one man they are persistently linked with is Traore.

The Spain winger is well known to Orta, with the Leeds chief previously signing the winger for Middlesbrough.

And Leeds have long been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, with TEAMtalk detailing in the summer how Orta fancied a reunion.

His deal at Molineux is due to expire in the summer and Traore is seemingly no closer an extension.

Now a cut-price move to Leeds in January is gathering pace, with Wolves open to selling for a lowly fee.

An ideal fit for Leeds United

Romano, speaking to Caught Offside, certainly thinks that is a growing possibility.

“At the moment there’s nothing advanced with other clubs. But Adama Traore could be a name to watch on the market because there’s not been much progress over talks for a new contract with Wolves,” Romano said.

“I personally think Leeds would be a very good move for him for their style of football.”

Traore clearly needs a new challenge after going stale at Molineux. He has two goals and no assists from 14 appearances this season. That’s some drop from his best ever season in 2019/20 when he scored four times and added nine assists from 37 Premier League games.
