Kevin Phillips feels Leeds United could bring in upwards of £40million for star player Raphinha, should he complete two objectives this season.

The Brazilian has set the footballing world alight of late. First in the Premier League, and recently with the Brazil national team, impressing massively in both.

Raphinha’s rousing impact has been clear to see. He has scored three times in eight Premier League appearances for Leeds and consistently been their most threatening forward.

Furthermore, he has hit the ground running as an international footballer. He has scored two goals and assisted a further two in three games for Brazil.

This impact has not gone unnoticed, with Liverpool taking an interest in the Whites’ star man. Additionally, the comments of Raphinha’s agent, Deco, did not suggest his client will be in West Yorkshire for much longer.

And former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips feels Leeds could receive more than double the reported £17million they paid for Raphinha from Rennes last summer, were he to move on.

“You’ve got to be talking £40million plus, Leeds certainly wouldn’t expect to receive offers of anything less than that,” he told Football Insider.

Though football agent Eduardo Uram feels the Brazil star would warrant at least a £50million fee.

Phillips feels that Raphinha needs to do two things to cement the £40m valuation.

“If he finishes the season strongly, and gets more international caps under his belt you would have to expect bids for around that amount,” he added.

“He just needs to take that form he found away with Brazil and use it to help Leeds get away from the bottom of the league.”

Given his impact since moving to Elland Road, Leeds fans will be of the opinion Raphinha is worth far more than Phillips’ £40m valuation if he does move on.

Raphinha downplays fans fears

Leeds fans were rightly worried when Raphinha went down injured in their draw against Wolves at the weekend. An injury to their key player would certainly not have helped arrest their lowly league position.

Though Raphinha took to Instagram to allay fan’s fears.

“Hello guys, just coming to say I’m fine,” wrote Raphinha.

“It was nothing serious, so I’m back soon. Thank you for the messages and concern.”

Whites’ fans will breathe a collective sigh of relief in knowing that their star will not be out for a prolonged period of time.
