Brendan Rodgers wants to evolve his Leicester City defence for next season and that has led him to target Gleison Bremer from Torino, according to a report.
Bremer has been attracting the interest of many clubs across Europe thanks to his performances for Torino. The centre-back has started 30 of their 32 Serie A matches so far this season. At the age of 25, he looks ready to take the next step in his career.
He has been heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur recently, due to their need for another centre-back. Bremer is comfortable playing in a back three, so would slot nicely into Antonio Conte’s system.
Rodgers can currently rely on Wesley Fofana, Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu and Jannik Vestergaard in the centre of defence. Daniel Amartey can play there too, but is out of contract at the end of the season.
The Telegraph claim Rodgers wants Leicester to refresh their backline in view of the new season. Amid those plans, Bremer is on their transfer radar.
It would cost around £40million to prise him away from Torino, where he is under contract until 2024 after signing an extension in February. That move may have merely been to protect his market value.
Now, Bremer and Torino will be awaiting offers in the summer. Leicester have begun to be mentioned as contenders for his signature in recent days and now the Telegraph confirm they will be making a significant push.

Indeed, Rodgers has put Bremer at the top of his wish-list when it comes to finding a new defender.

But Leicester face strong competition for the former Atletico Mineiro man. In addition to Tottenham, Liverpool are said to be big admirers of Bremer.
Their need for a centre-back may not be as great, depending on potential exits. But they may not want to miss out on such an opportunity to further improve their squad depth.
Only time will tell where exactly Bremer ends up but he looks likely to be on the move in some capacity this summer.
