Arsenal and Tottenham ready to battle it out for £60m-rated Leicester ace this summer

Arsenal target Youri Tielemans, James Maddison and Luke Thomas of Leicester

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison is in demand this summer with reports claiming both Arsenal and Tottenham are keen to get him on board.

Maddison is having an outstanding season for the Foxes when scoring 13 goals from midfield. He has also chipped in with eight assists for Brendan Rodgers’ side. Therefore it is no surprise to see him linked with a move away.

Furthermore the reports in the Sun are claiming that the Foxes could cash in if the price is right. It has been suggested that Rodgers is keen to rebuild his side in the summer. Maddison not being a part of his plans would be a surprise nonetheless.

Leicester could cash in

Leicester are thought to be open to cashing in on a star player this summer. Youri Tielemans has been heavily linked with a move away with Real Madrid among the interested clubs. Los Blancos are also said to be keen on Maddison who they think could be the “new David Beckham”.

Closer to home it is Arsenal and Tottenham who are ready to battle it out. The Gunners were linked last summer but went for Martin Odegaard instead.

Arsenal paid in the region of £30m to turn his loan move from Real Madrid in to a permanent deal. The Norwegian has done well with six goals and four assists. But Maddison has been on the next level and Arsenal could decide to push the boat out.

James Maddison from Leicester City is apparently up for sale this summer and they want £50m for him

They could face competition from arch rivals Tottenham though. Spurs boss Antonio Conte is looking to bolster his attacking midfield options.

Dele Alli joined Everton on a permanent basis in January while Tanguy Ndombele was loaned to Lyon. The reports have claimed that if Conte wants Maddison then he will also have to sell Ndombele.

Moving out Giovani Lo Celso, who is on loan at Villarreal, is also a way for Conte to raise funds.

Maddison has England hopes

Maddison could also be interested in a move away and a fresh challenge. Despite starring for Leicester he has just the one cap for England.

With the World Cup fast approaching a move to Arsenal or Tottenham may boost his chances. He will not be playing in Europe with Leicester next season and a move could help his cause.

Maddison recently said the focus was to keep doing well for Leicester and the rest will look after itself. The Foxes are back in action against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon. And Maddison will be out to shine again.
