Leicester City take a hit as initial bid not enough for player Rodgers is keen on
Leicester City will be forced to make a higher bid than that of Bologna if they want to land young star Calvin Ramsay, per a report.
Leicester’s interest in Aberdeen youngster Ramsay has been well reported of late. The Foxes joined Newcastle United and Watford in pursuit of the right-back.
Newcastle signing Kieran Trippier has filled their needs in the position. Right-back is a position that has also caused problems for Leicester recently.
Long-term injuries to James Justin and Ricardo Pereira – who have both been prominent players for the Foxes in the past – has led to chopping and changing in the position.
Wide midfielder Marc Albrighton has been forced to play in the defence recently. As such, the signing of Ramsay would be an important one for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The 18-year-old has eight assists in 22 appearances for Aberdeen this season.
He is clearly a very capable player, and at such a young age. Furthermore, he looks to be a big fish in a small pond, and a move to a bigger league beckons.
However, mid-table Serie A side Bologna bid for Ramsay recently, and had their offer rebuffed.
Youri Tielemans wanted by Arsenal but wants a move to Liverpool or Manchester United
Leicester City are preparing to sell Youri Tielemans this summer as Arsenal are ready to bid £40m for the midfielder
That means Leicester will have to come up with a better offer than that of Bologna.
However, Aberdeen seem desperate to hold onto their star. The Scottish side feel he is up there with the best right-backs in Europe, so will not let him go without being properly compensated.
Ramsay and Cho on Foxes shortlist
Leicester are also interested in French teenager Mohamed-Ali Cho. The youngster has also been heavily linked with Tottenham.
The Foxes are looking to hijack Tottenham’s deal for the forward.
They are said to have met with the player’s representatives to discuss a deal.
Rodgers’ side have been interested for over a year, and that interest could well turn into a formal bid.
