Leicester City given fresh hope of bringing exciting winger back to Premier League as agent seeks January destination

Davide Frattesi and Jeremie Boga

Leicester City have been given another chance of signing Jeremie Boga after learning the Atalanta winger is likely to be on the move in January, per a report.

Boga was on Leicester’s radar during the summer transfer window, just a few months after he had joined Atalanta from Sassuolo. It hasn’t really worked out for the Ivory Coast international in Bergamo.

Therefore, there was already a chance he could be set for a quick exit in the summer. Now, more rumours are appearing about his potential departure from Atalanta.

According to Calciomercato, Boga is about to change clubs again in January. He recently tasked agent Fali Ramadani with finding him a new club.

The Italian source confirms Leicester are still in for the former Chelsea winger. According to the report, Boga could have been a Foxes player already if the Premier League club had managed to make room by getting rid of Dennis Praet to Torino.

Now, Brendan Rodgers’ side are taking another close look at Boga. Their confidence could be growing because of the 25-year-old’s stance of being willing to leave Bergamo behind.

Overall, Boga has only scored twice from 28 appearances with Atalanta. In contrast, he scored 18 goals from 102 games with his previous club, Sassuolo.

Therefore, Boga might need a move away from Atalanta – where Calciomercato claims he is being restricted by a rigid system – to get his career back on track.

Leicester could provide him with a solution, although they are not his only suitors. Per the report, Boga could switch to another Serie A side in the shape of Fiorentina.

His agent, Ramadani, has already placed a selection of his clients in Florence. Hence, he could try to send Boga in the same direction.

Leicester still in contention for Jeremie Boga transfer

Obviously, it will depend on what kind of bid Fiorentina can put together. Likewise, Leicester will have to work out how much they think Boga could be worth.

But their interest remains and the chances of Boga being an Atalanta player still by February are slim.

Therefore, it wouldn’t be impossible for Leicester to give Boga a second chance in the Premier League. Previously, he only played once for Chelsea’s first team.

His only other experience of senior football in England came on loan in the Championship with Birmingham City in the season prior to his departure for Sassuolo.

Boga’s form with the Neroverdi made him an exciting prospect for other clubs to look at. It could still be the case if he can shake off what has been hindering him at Atalanta.
