New Leicester man makes ‘world-class’ claim as Brendan Rodgers gets third January signing through the door

Harry Souttar of Leicester

Defender Harry Souttar has explained what aspect of Leicester City is ‘world-class’ after his moved to the King Power reached completion on transfer deadline day.

On Monday, sources told TEAMtalk that Leicester officials were confident about getting Souttar in before the deadline passed. And Brendan Rodgers’ side have been successful, with the centre-back joining on a contract running until June 2028.

According to BBC Sport, Leicester have paid Championship club Stoke City an initial £15million for Souttar. The deal could rise to £20m if certain clauses are met.

Dundee United are expected to receive £3m of the transfer fee thanks to a sell-on clause included when they let the 24-year-old move to Stoke in September 2016.

Souttar becomes Leicester’s third new arrival of the January window. They brought in Victor Kristiansen on January 20, while Tete also moved to the club over the weekend.

During his first interview as a Leicester player, Australia international Souttar labelled the side’s training facilities ‘world-class’.

“I’m delighted to join such a great Football Club and challenging myself in the Premier League is an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down,” he said. “There are world-class facilities here and a squad full of fantastic players, so I can’t wait to get started.”

Stoke identify Harry Souttar replacement

Stoke are in need of a replacement and Sky Sports report that they are targeting Axel Tuanzebe of Manchester United. They submitted a deal sheet in time to sign the 25-year-old, and the transfer is now awaiting confirmation.

Souttar, who made four appearances for Australia at the World Cup, could make his Leicester debut when the Foxes play Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.

Tuanzebe, meanwhile, may play in a Stoke shirt for the first time when they come up against Luton Town at the weekend – although that will only happen if his move reaches completion.
