Adrien Rabiot: Star’s mother and agent outlines preferred next club for Juventus star amid links to Liverpool

The agent and mother of Juventus star Adrien Rabiot has reportedly identified her son’s preferred next club, amid rumours that Liverpool are among those in contention for his signature.

The 27-year-old moved to Juventus in summer 2019 as a free agent with his contract at PSG expiring. And he has been a regular in the Bianconeri side since, playing 129 times over his three seasons in Italy. However, it seems the midfielder may well be on the move again this summer.

Indeed, he was recently left out of Juventus’ touring party in the USA. And while the club put his absence due to ‘personal reasons’, the Italian media speculate that it is due to uncertainty over his future.

As such, reports last week claimed Rabiot has a number of suitors all considering approaches for his signature.

Liverpool were mentioned surprisingly as suitors last month. Indeed, reports in Italy claim a swap deal for Naby Keita could be agreed between the two clubs.

And while that talk has since died down, talk has resurfaced that Juve could use Rabiot as bait in a swap deal for Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian is in the final year of his contract at Anfield and is reportedly the subject of a £20m bid from Juve.

However, it seems the Reds are not alone in their pursuit of the 29-times capped France star.

As such, Lyon are also keen to bring him back to Ligue 1. And reports are also stating that Nice are considering a rival approach too.

Of the three sides, it is Lyon whose bid is believed to be most concrete.

However, after finishing eighth last season, they are unable to offer Rabiot European football

PSG are No 1 choice for Adrien Rabiot

As such, Italian source Mondo Bianconero insists it is a return to Paris Saint-Germain which is Rabiot’s preferred option.

They claim his mother and agent Veronique is looking to steer her son back towards the Ligue 1 champions.

He made 227 appearances there over seven seasons, having debuted back in 2012/13.

And she is now looking to hold talks with officials from the Ligue 1 giants to ascertain whether there would be interest in re-signing him.

The report states Rabiot will either look to re-sign there ahead of rumoured Liverpool interest as his No 1 priority. But failure to secure that switch may well see him remain at the Allianz Stadium.

Adrien Rabiot in action for France

To that end, Rabiot himself insisted last month that he is happy there. He has recently reclaimed a place in Didier Deschamps’ France squad, though he says that won’t affect his thinking this summer.

“I have not talked about it with the club. I’m trying to stay focused on the national team and let my agent do it.

“I am under contract with Juve and nothing indicates to me that I will leave.

“As for the World Cup , it would have nothing to do with my decision. It wouldn’t affect my choice.”

Liverpool not likely to sign midfielder

Truth be told, Liverpool are unlikely to move for Adrien Rabiot.

While he could hold his own in their squad, his age means they are unlikely to go for him. Sitting as a deep-lying midfielder, he would likely find himself as cover for Fabinho or possibly Thiago Alcantara only.

Instead, Liverpool have ambitions to look elsewhere for a new midfielder. And it will likely be one at the younger end of his career.

To that end, Liverpool saw a bid for Aurelien Tchouameni fail; the Monaco man ultimately choosing Real Madrid.

However, Jurgen Klopp retains an interest in acquiring Jude Bellingham.

The England midfielder is still only 19 despite clocking up 90 appearances for Borussia Dortmund.

And it seems BVB may well cash in on him next summer, as per their one-major-sale-per year mantra.

Reports suggest Dortmund are looking to add to Bellingham’s responsibilities by naming him as one of two vice captains at the club,

Liverpool, meanwhile, continue to be linked with Bukayo Saka. And now one observer has outlined the factors that could see the young Arsenal  winger moving to Anfield.
