Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain transfer news: Five clubs keen as Liverpool man makes decision on future

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will have his pick from up to five Premier League suitors this summer after reportedly deciding he wants to leave Anfield.
The midfielder has been reduced to a bit-part role at Anfield this season, despite finally overcoming his injury problems. Now 28, the 35-times capped England man has made just 17 starts in all competitions this season. Indeed, Oxlade-Chamberlain has not played a single minute for the Reds – despite being fit and available – since their FA Cup win at Nottingham Forest on March 20.
As such, reports recently claimed he is considering his future at Anfield.
And now it seems he has decided the time is right to move on. Furthermore, with his deal at Anfield expiring in summer 2023, Liverpool themselves know the time is right to cash in on the midfielder.
The good news for both parties is that interest in Oxlade-Chamberlain will not be short.
Both Newcastle and West Ham are reportedly leading the chase, while Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Everton will also reportedly consider moves.
Speaking about his future, pundit Alex McLeish reckons Oxlade-Chamberlain will look to move to revive his career.
“It’s difficult because you want to stay at a club like Liverpool. You’re challenging for all these trophies but you want to also play your part. If that’s not happening, it’s possibly time to move elsewhere,” he told Football Insider.
“West Ham, Newcastle, Aston Villa, even the likes of Everton and Palace, all these teams are building for the future. They’re building something special as well and why would you not want to be part of that?
“He could be an integral cog for one of these teams moving forward. He’s still got a lot to give, plenty of time. The only question mark is the injuries.
“That can happen with all the stop-start, it’s difficult to get a run going. Any of those teams we’ve mentioned I think would jump at the chance of bringing someone of his quality through the door.”
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain transfer: Perrie Edwards may influence decision
Of all the clubs keen, it is perhaps a move to Newcastle which makes the most sense.
The Magpies will have money to spend this summer and Oxlade-Chamberlain will comfortably fall into their price range. With Liverpool likely to accept a fee of around £15m, they could be picking up a bargain.
He still has a great goalscoring record for a midfielder and he can certainly provide an upgrade on their current players in the centre of the park.
Furthermore, he could become something of a hero on Tyneside and a vital cog in Eddie Howe’s side.
And they will need signings of the calibre of Oxlade-Chamberlain to push into the top half of the Premier League.
In addition, the move to Tyneside may also suit the player’s family lifestyle. Indeed, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s girlfriend, Perrie Edwards, was born in neighbouring South Shields and still has family up there.
And while that won’t be a deciding factor, it may play an influence in any decision to move.
If the price is right, this is certainly a deal that will suit all parties.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are building for the future after reportedly emerging as favourites for Jobe Bellingham.
