Alexander-Arnold names two stars he wants at Liverpool; namechecks player with ‘no weakness’

Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed the two Premier League stars he would love to see playing for Liverpool while also naming his toughest opponent to date.

The 23-year-old is enjoying a superb season, starting 16 of the Reds 18 Premier League games. He has already notched two goals and assisted eight as the Anfield giants challenge Manchester City for the title. And the England full-back recently drew praise from former Manchester United star and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville.

“Alexander-Arnold is an absolute phenomenon when it comes to the quality of his passing, his delivery. It’s something I’ve never seen before from a full-back,” he said.

“It’s like De Bruyne, it’s Beckham, it’s Gerrard, and they’re attacking players. He’s playing at right-back, it’s the highest accolade I could pay him.”

The Liverpool defender has turned the tables and listed the top two players he would love to have as team-mates. And it seems he is a big fan of De Bruyne and Tottenham’s Son Heung-min.

On De Bruyne, he told Premier League Uncut: “De Bruyne because I admire him a lot as a player. His vision, his technique, his accuracy.

“Outstanding player. The assists and the chances created he does is frightening.”

Speaking about Spurs’ South Korean maestro, he added: “Son, again, an outstanding player. The speed, finishing and composure.”

De Bruyne, who has won three Premier League titles with City, is enjoying another outstanding campaign, with four goals to date.

Son has seven, with a couple of assists as the north Londoners look to rally under Antonio Conte. However, neither of the players mentioned strike as much fear into Alexander-Arnold’s heart as a former Chelsea ace.

Alexander-Arnold in awe of Hazard

The Merseysider was also asked which player has caused him the most trouble on the pitch. He opted for Eden Hazard, who shone for Chelsea but has struggled since making a big-money move to Real Madrid.

The Belgium international has never been a regular for Los Blancos due to injuries and a dip in form.

But he did score 110 goals for the Blues from 352 appearances. And Alexander-Arnold is clearly a big fan.

“Very skilful and quick. He didn’t really have many weaknesses to be honest. He’d mastered his game to perfection,” he continued.

Kevin de Bruyne celebrates with Phil Foden

“By the time I came up against him, he was an all-round player exceptional in many aspects of the game. So really difficult to deal with. So, I’d say him.”
