Liverpool scouts ‘advise’ Klopp to sign £75m international, as Reds overtake Man Utd, Arsenal

Alexander Isak Real Sociedad March 2022

Liverpool are leading the race to sign exciting Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak, according to one Spanish outlet.

The news that Jurgen Klopp’s men head the queue for the talented Sweden hitman is somewhat of a surprise. The two main protagonists in pursuit of the 22-year-old were thought to be Arsenal and Manchester United.

The Daily Star has claimed Old Trafford transfer chiefs believe Isak represents the next best value for money in the current market. While Sociedad sporting director Roberto Olabe has admitted that the north Londoners have a “clear interest in him”.

Olabe has also stated the club is “well protected” in their efforts to keep the Sweden international.

Isak has a huge £75m release clause in his current contract. But, according to Noticias de Gipuzkoa, Isak ‘s renewal last summer could have “a trick”.

The report claims “Real Sociedad would have promised to listen to offers in the hypothetical case that important proposals arrived from big clubs in Europe”.

And one of those clubs is Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The source claims Reds scouts have been tracking the eight-goal striker. And they have been so impressed that they have “advised his hiring”.

Isak ‘focused’

Similar to United, Liverpool considering him by far the most interesting striker in LaLiga.

The article mentions that Julian Ward at Anfield will be prepared to pay €70m for the former AIK Solna man.

Klopp may well be in the market for a new striker this summer. The futures of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Divock Origi are far from assured.

Salah is out of contract in 2023 and so far he is yet to agree a new deal at Anfield. Mane’s deal also expires in 15 months time, while Origi is expected to leave in search of more game time.

Isak, who is under contract with the La Liga club until June 2026, is certainly an interesting prospect.

Further claims from Olabe last month suggested  he striker was “calm” and “focused” on Real Sociedad.
