Bayern Munich are ready to close the distance between their previous offers and the asking price Liverpool have set for Sadio Mane, according to reports.
Mane is a major target for a Bayern Munich side in fear of losing Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona. Liverpool have already spent big to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica as his replacement. But they have been refusing to let Mane leave for a price below their estimation.
Even though the Senegal international is approaching the final year of his contract, he remains one of the best players in the world. Therefore, Liverpool are standing firm for the 30-year-old.
Bayern’s previous two attempts to sign Mane this summer have not been acceptable to Liverpool. Now, though, they are ready to make further progress.
According to The Telegraph, Bayern representatives are flying to England on Friday to hold further talks with the Premier League runners up. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic will be playing a key role.
The report predicts a new offer for Mane will arrive on Liverpool’s desk within 24 hours. This time, they will get closer to an asking price above £40m.
What’s more, they are likely to restructure their last bid, which Liverpool laughed off due to unrealistic add-ons. The Reds will only do a deal if they are guaranteed to receive the money they are asking for.
Elsewhere, Sky Sports claim the fee in question that Liverpool want is £42.5m. Their report also indicates that Bayern are now ready to come a lot closer to meeting it.
Sky confirm Mane has given his word to Bayern that he will choose them as his next club. Now, it is up to Salihamidzic and company to get a deal over the line.
Liverpool are not going to stand in the former Southampton star’s way after six years of splendid service. They are aiming to make a profit on their original £34m investment, though.
It appears it could be a critical day for Mane’s future.
Sadio Mane move seems inevitable
Mane’s move to Bayern will be a matter of when, not if. They are seemingly the only club he is considering.
Certainly if Lewandowski leaves to further his own Ballon d’Or ambitions, fellow candidate Mane would be the main man in Munich.
Darwin Nunez a massive Liverpool signing - but big Salah, Mane difference clear
Liverpool have made another impressive signing in Darwin Nunez, but the deal differs to those gone before up front in Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Liverpool have acknowledged how good Mane has been for them over the years. But they have evolved their attack so they can have Nunez in rotation with Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah.
Hence, it makes sense for the Mane conclusion to come sooner rather than later, so both clubs and the player can prepare for their futures.
