Bukayo Saka: Jurgen Klopp dreams of signing Arsenal star for Liverpool sent curt Edu message

Liverpool have been sent a no-nonsense message over claims they could look to launch a surprise bid to lure Bukayo Saka to Anfield before the transfer window closes.

The Gunners star is regarded as one of the Premier League’s best young attakers. Starring for Arsenal last season, he scored 12 times and added seven assists, helping his side secure a fifth-placed finish. Capped 18 times already by England, the 20-year-old is likely to only get even better under Mikel Arteta’s leadership.

But with two years left on his deal, Arsenal are under pressure to secure their star man to a lengthy new extension. Talks over that deal have been ongoing for some months now.

Saka is currently on a deal worth £70,000 a week, with the Gunners reportedly looking to double his wages. However, the Gunners are yet to reach an agreement on those terms with the player and his agent.

As such, speculation has emerged suggesting Saka could be a target for Liverpool. He has a firm admirer in Jurgen Klopp, with the Reds boss seemingly seeing Saka as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.

And despite Salah committing to a new deal at Liverpool himself, Klopp reportedly remains keen to bring in Saka. To that end, a report has suggested Klopp may look to make his move as soon as this summer.

Furthermore, the fact that Arsenal missed out on the Champions League could seemingly pose a problem. As a result, one pundit admits he could see the Gunners losing Saka to Liverpool if the competition continues to elude them.

However, the Gunners remain focused on tying Saka down to a new deal. And even if they failed to reach an agreement, a move to Liverpool is simply out of the question.

Liverpool warned off Bukayo Saka transfer

To that end, journalist Dean Jones is adamant that Arsenal would resist any approach from Liverpool for Saka.

A sale to the Merseysiders is simply just not possible, with Jones insisting Edu will not entertain any offers.

As such, Jones, speaking to Give Me Sport, believes Saka will commit to a new deal.

“Edu particularly won’t entertain offers for Saka at the moment. He doesn’t believe that even a Liverpool bid could force the club to sell at the moment. So I think he will sign a new contract,” Jones said.

As such, talks over a new deal for Saka will gather pace in the coming weeks.

Arsenal’s focus at present is on further strengthening their squad before the window shuts.

To that end, Arteta is hoping to bring in a new midfielder, with Youri Tielemans still a potential option.

As far as departures go, Arsenal are looking to finalise the sales of Lucas Torreira and Bernd Leno in the coming days.

But once the window closes, then Arsenal will look to close on an agreement with Bukayo Saka.

Bukayo Saka is set to get his current wage quadrupled this summer as Arsenal are set to offer him £120,000 a week.

Given his record since breaking into their side, he is simply a player they cannot afford to lose.

And while a £140,000 a week deal for Saka would cost Arsenal a minimum £29m over four years, signing a replacement of the same quality would cost them far more.

For example, Nicolas Pepe cost the club a whopping £72m and has got nowhere near the numbers Saka has.

As far as Pepe is concerned, the Gunners are yet to receive any concrete proposals over the winger, with one demand seemingly causing an issue.
