Klopp stresses ‘important’ Nunez reminder to excited Liverpool fans amid prediction for ‘wonderful’ striker

Jurgen Klopp has insisted that new Liverpool signing Darwin Nunez is a “work in progress”, but a striker with so much to offer both now and in the future.
The Reds confirmed the arrival of their new attacker on Tuesday evening. The Uruguay international has cost Liverpool an up-front £64million but could become their club-record signing.
The fee could rise to around £85million if he meets add-ons – both individual and as part of his new team.
Speaking to his club’s official website, Klopp lauded the signing of Nunez as “super news” for his team’s progression.
“This is super news, really super news,” the manager said. “I’m very grateful to everyone at the club for making it happen. We’ve shown decisiveness and ambition in equal measure.
“Darwin is a wonderful player; already really good but so much potential to get even better. That’s why it’s so exciting, to be honest. His age, his desire, his hunger to be even better than he currently is. His belief in our project and what we are looking to do as a club.
“He is as excited by us as we are by him, which makes for a great relationship, when you appreciate each other’s strengths. That is certainly the case here.”
Klopp added that Nunez is confident of not only fitting in, but making Liverpool better.
Klopp lauds Nunez amid ‘important’ Liverpool point
“He thinks we suit him and we believe he is the right fit for us – so let’s do it,” Klopp said.
“He has all the pieces we look for. He can set a tempo, he brings energy, he can threaten space from central and wide areas. He is aggressive and dynamic with his movement.
“He plays without fear, he’s powerful. I know he will excite our supporters.”
But Klopp added that it is “important” that Liverpool fans do not put too much pressure on 22-year-old Nunez to hit the ground running.

Darwin Nunez details revealed
Liverpool have a agreed a deal for Benfica forward Darwin Nunez in a deal worth up to £85 million.
“It’s important we all recognise we are getting a ‘work in progress’ with Darwin,” the German said. “He recognises that himself, for sure. I love how much focus and humility he has.
“We have wonderful attacking options already and he becomes part of that now. So there is no pressure on him at all. He signs for a very long time and we intend to nurture his talent and see it grow.
“He’s the latest addition to the wonderful LFC family and I’m sure our supporters will make him feel at home from the first moment he has the Liver bird on his chest.”
Reds secure another fantastic transfer
Liverpool have only spent above £60million on two players since Klopp arrived at Liverpool in 2015.
Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker transformed the Anfield club into a top-four team to a Premier League and Champions League-winning team.
With Nunez, he is the obvious replacement for Sadio Mane, for whom Bayern Munich continue to negotiate.
However, at 22, he is a long-term replacement for the Senegal star.
Liverpool usually get their costliest transfers right and Nunez looks like another perfect addition to Klopp’s team.
