Divock Origi in advanced talks over free move to Italy as Prem pair miss out on Liverpool striker

Liverpool striker Divock Origi is reportedly holding advanced talks over a move to AC Milan this summer, whom he will join as a free agent.

The Belgium international has enjoyed some remarkable highs –  but also lows – during his Anfield career. Overall, though, he has failed to consistently stamp his mark on the team. As a result, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admitted in December – for the second time this season – that he expected more transfer interest in Origi.

Now in the final year of his contract, he will therefore likely enter free agency this summer.

Klopp then insisted in January that Liverpool will keep him until the end of the season. There is a performance option in his contract, whereby a specific number of Premier League starts will trigger a one-year extension.

However, he has yet to start in the top-flight this term, coming off the bench just five times.

As a result, Inter Milan, Napoli and Fiorentina are all being linked with a move for the 26-year-old.

But an exclusive report in Calciomercato claims Origi is actually in advanced talks with Milan.

They claim Milan director Paolo Maldini is a huge admirer of the striker and has already held talks with his representative.

Furthermore, they claim Origi has given the move his blessing if terms can be agreed. Indeed, they state Origi is ‘fascinated’ by the approach from Milan – despite offers to stay in the Premier League.

Newcastle, West Ham face Divock Origi disappointment

Indeed, the likes of Newcastle and West Ham are two such sides who would like to keep Origi in England.

However, Calciomercato claims he is very much veering towards Milan. And they state he will make a definitive decision on his future in the next few weeks.

Milan though do have some thinking to do in terms of the financial package they can offer Divock Origi.

Divock Origi has been linked with a Serie A move

Liverpool's Divock Origi has been linked with a move to the Serie A.

Their current top earner, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, currently earns €7m a season. That equates to around £112,000 a week – a salary Origi will look to come close to.

The Belgian striker has five goals and two assists in 16 appearances for Liverpool this season. However, he’s played only for a total of 515 minutes, meaning he has a goal contribution every 73.5 minutes of action.

Fulham eye double Liverpool raid

Liverpool, meanwhile, could see two more players depart this summer with Fulham casting admiring glances towards Anfield.

The Daily Express are claiming that Championship leaders Fulham are making plans to swoop for two Liverpool players. One, they already have, in the shape of on-loan full-back Neco Williams. The other, perhaps more ambitiously, is Joe Gomez.

Williams came through the academy ranks at Liverpool but has struggled for gametime at senior level. Therefore, he went to Fulham on loan in January.

The 20-year-old has started nine Championship matches since, scoring two goals and assisting the same number. He also made one appearance in the FA Cup.

But they would not just stop with Williams if they are able to get him. The Express believe they are also in contention to sign Gomez.

The England defender has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield this season despite overcoming a serious knee injury.

The likes of Newcastle, Tottenham and Aston Villa are also chasing the £30m-rated star.
