Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool up stakes in £51m midfielder swoop to derail Chelsea’s Casemiro plan

Olivier Boscagli and Aurelien Tchouameni

Liverpool are stepping up their chase of Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who is also of interest to Real Madrid, while Paul Pogba’s new agent is set to meet with Juventus officials – both in Monday’s Euro Paper Talk.

Liverpool battling Real Madrid for Tchouameni

Liverpool and Real Madrid are both reportedly in talks with Monaco for the signing of 22-year-old France international Aurelien Tchouameni.

The midfield enforcer is bound to leave Monaco in the summer after a top campaign in Ligue 1, where he has made 34 appearances this season.

Liverpool are hot on his trail, but so too are Carlo Ancelotti’s Real. Both teams have held preliminary discussions with Monaco over the star, and those negotiations look set to continue.

According to transfer journalist Ekrem Konur, Liverpool and Real officials will meet with their Monaco counterparts again in the coming weeks to discuss the parameters for a deal.

The French outfit will demand between £47million and £51m for Tchouameni, which represents a reasonable fee for a player with such a high ceiling.

This is more than achievable for Liverpool and Los Blancos too, meaning a huge transfer to one of these clubs is bound to happen.

Chelsea are waiting to see where Tchouameni ends up as they plan to move for Real star Casemiro this summer.

French journalists have confirmed Liverpool and Real Madrid are talking to AS Monaco over the signing of Tchouameni this summer

Real will let Chelsea know whether the 30-year-old Brazilian will be available for transfer following the Champions League final on May 28.

The Blues will be hoping Real can beat Liverpool to Tchouameni as this would mean they are open to selling Casemiro.

But Liverpool could end Thomas Tuchel’s transfer hopes by winning the race for Tchouameni, and therefore giving him his first taste of the Premier League.
