Euro Paper Talk: Huge lift for Liverpool as €40m midfield target favours Anfield switch; Arsenal in talks for superstar attacker

Sofyan Amranat and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic during Fiorentina vs Lazio
Liverpool have learned that one of their main targets to strengthen in midfield is currently leaning towards choosing them as his next club, while Leeds United are increasingly keen on a player who took the World Cup by storm – all in Monday’s Euro transfer gossip.
AMRABAT PREFERS LIVERPOOL TO OTHER SUITORS
Sofyan Amrabat would prefer to join Liverpool over any of his other suitors in what could be a €40million signing from Fiorentina.
Amrabat has come to greater attention at the World Cup after helping Morocco to a fourth-place finish. His performances in midfield have caught the eyes of many clubs, some of whom had already put him on their shortlists.
Liverpool are among the teams to have been linked with Amrabat. After all, they are expected to evolve their midfield in 2023. With that in mind, Jurgen Klopp has been planning some meetings regarding the Dutch-born ace.
Klopp’s side are facing competition from Tottenham Hotspur, though. Meanwhile, there are other clubs who could take him elsewhere in Europe, such as Atletico Madrid.
According to the latest from Foot Mercato, though, Amrabat has a preference for Liverpool as things stand.
Although he is yet to firm up a final decision, he wants to play in the Premier League. Liverpool could give him the most suitable platform in that regard.
To sign him, though, they will have to offer around €40million (£34.8million) to Fiorentina, who are trying to renew his contract instead.
There is a chance that the Serie A side could listen to offers in January. After all, Amrabat’s stock is high in the immediate aftermath of the World Cup.
Liverpool now know the parameters under which they will have to work if they are to succeed with an offer for the 26-year-old.
The report also reveals they are facing competition from the Bundesliga, but it is unclear which club exactly might want to take him to Germany.
It may be inconsequential though if Amrabat really is pushing for a move to Merseyside.
With 2023 being the year in which Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Arthur Melo could leave Liverpool – who also have Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara above the age of 30 – Amrabat could be the kind of reinforcement they urgently need.
