Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool to shock rivals with £120m January raid as Klopp lays waste to summer signing; Chelsea star makes final exit decision

Liverpool will beat their transfer rivals to a £100million-plus target, while a Chelsea man decides on his future – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.
LIVERPOOL TIPPED FOR BELLINGHAM AMID ARTHUR DECISION
Arthur Melo will not reportedly remain a Liverpool player next season, with one pundit tipping the Reds to go big for Jude Bellingham in January instead.
The Reds eventually added Arthur to their midfield this summer following a Jurgen Klopp U-turn. Although, the on-loan Brazilian has struggled to make an impact since leaving Juventus.
He has only tallied 13 minutes of first-team action, which came in the Champions League. Furthermore, surgery on a muscle injury and a subsequent three-to-four month lay-off means it will be early 2023 before Arthur can really make some progress.
Liverpool have an option to buy Arthur, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that is firmly off the cards.
Romano told his YouTube channel that the “main problem” for Liverpool is Arthur’s injury record.
He added: “In this case, it’s something that is surprising to Liverpool as they signed him on deadline day because they had many injuries in midfield.
“They decided to go for Arthur to have one more option for Jurgen Klopp and then go for a top midfielder next summer.”
Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham has been mentioned as that top target. The 19-year-old’s standout Bundesliga and Champions League outings are teeing him up for a vital role for England at the World Cup.
Bellingham’s camp are reportedly monitoring Liverpool’s progress – and that of his other suitors. Manchester United are supposedly the other leading transfer contender, with Real Madrid also keen.
According to former Premier League star Troy Deeney, though, Liverpool will submit a massive January bid for Bellingham. And they will snap the midfielder up in January before their rivals get a chance in the summer.
Liverpool tipped to sign Dortmund star
“I think they’ll go again in January, I can see him [Klopp] getting Jude, you know? I can see him going big on Jude early, just before United or [Manchester] City,” Deeney said on Ben Foster’s The Cycling GK channel.
“Someone’s going to go like £120million on him early doors because if you wait till the summer or even if he has a really good World Cup, it could go to £150 million mate.
“I just think someone will go big early. City can wait till the summer, Real Madrid can wait, I think United or Liverpool will go big on him [in January].”
Liverpool currently have four midfielders on the sidelines with injuries. Curtis Jones is closest to a return, with Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Arthur’s recoveries in progress.
