Euro Paper Talk: Jurgen Klopp delighted as Fabrizio Romano reveals prime Liverpool midfield target is Reds fan; Arsenal to battle Tottenham for Serie A star

Liverpool have a great chance at signing a Bundesliga midfielder after Fabrizio Romano spoke about him being a Reds supporter, Arsenal are preparing to rival Tottenham for a Serie A winger, while Wednesday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Manchester United have a shock interest in landing a Fulham man.

HUGE LIVERPOOL BOOST IN MIDFIELD HUNT

Jurgen Klopp will be ecstatic after finding out a potential signing from Germany is a Liverpool supporter, as revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Liverpool have had a tough season so far, falling way behind the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier League and being knocked out of the Carabao Cup.

They could still turn things around, as they remain in the Champions League and FA Cup. On Tuesday night, Harvey Elliott scored the winner against Wolves to book Liverpool’s place in the FA Cup fourth round.

To make the season a success, Liverpool could really do with adding to their midfield ranks. Klopp has had to deal with several injuries in the position, while the favoured trio of Jordan Henderson, Thiago and Fabinho are not performing at their usual standards.

Ian Wright thinks this is partly down to the exhausting Premier League title races with City in recent years. As such, the midfield is not giving enough protection to the back four, and Liverpool’s opponents are capitalising.

It has widely been reported that Liverpool are looking ahead to a summer move for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham. But this might be too long to wait.

Reds recruitment officials have recently begun targeting a Bundesliga alternative who will be far cheaper than Bellingham. And they could complete a deal this month, too.

According to Sport Witness, who cite reports coming out of Denmark, Liverpool hold an interest in snapping up Jesper Lindstrom from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Liverpool ‘enquire’ about Frankfurt ace

Klopp’s side have even made an ‘enquiry’ to see if the 22-year-old would be available for transfer this month.

Lindstrom has been in great form this season, notching six goals and two assists in 14 Bundesliga matches so far. This is why Liverpool have set their sights on him as a potential midfield solution.

Frankfurt have told Liverpool the Dane will not be available on the cheap as he is an important part of their team. Plus, his contract in Germany runs until summer 2026.

However, there is a good chance Liverpool will be able to agree a deal for him this month. They will just need to pay more than his current valuation, which transfermarkt put at €28million (£24.5m).

In a major boost for Klopp, Romano says Lindstrom is a Liverpool supporter. This means he would love to move to Anfield if such an opportunity presented itself.

However, Romano did cast doubt over how advanced Liverpool’s interest in Lindstrom is.

“Jesper Lindstrom is understood to be a Liverpool fan and so this is how the recent rumours started,” the journalist told CaughtOffside. “Many clubs appreciate him but at the moment there’s no proposal from Liverpool, the situation is still very quiet.”

Lindstrom, who has won nine caps for the Denmark national team, is not on Bellingham’s level. The latter remains the ideal signing for Liverpool given the fact he is already a world-class performer for Dortmund and England.

But Bellingham could cost upwards of £100m, which may put him out of Liverpool’s reach. Should this happen, then Lindstrom would be a good, cheaper alternative. And at 22 years of age, he has plenty of time to develop into a top Premier League performer.
