Euro Paper Talk: Fabrizio Romano gives Liverpool major shot in arm in Jude Bellingham race; Newcastle chasing LaLiga double deal

Liverpool have been given a major boost to their hopes of landing Jude Bellingham, although they will have to wait to land the Dortmund star, while Thursday’s Euro Paper Talk claims that Newcastle are confident of sealing a double deal from Atletico Madrid.

ROMANO NAMECHECKS LIVERPOOL IN BELLINGHAM CHASE

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has seemingly given Liverpool a big lift in their chase for Jude Bellingham, although they will have to bide their time.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder continues to be one the most sought-after players in Europe after excelling in the Bundesliga and at international level with England.

And now Romano has given an insight into the 18-year-old’s plans going forward. And he has given the Reds a namecheck in the process.

“There is no chance for Jude Bellingham to leave Borussia Dortmund before summer 2023,” the Guardian journalist told Caught Offside.

“The player made this decision together with the club in a meeting in February, he will stay at Borussia for another year.

Liverpool are certainly interested for next summer – his talent and personality make him look like the perfect fit for a Jurgen Klopp team – but there is absolutely no definite deal because so many clubs want Jude and it will be an open race.”

Bellingham will not come cheap

Bellingham’s existing Dortmund contract runs out in 2025 and it’s thought he could cost in the region of £100million.

The youngster scored six goals and added 14 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund this season.

However, judging by Romano’s comments it looks like the Reds will have to be patient to get their man.

In some ways that’s not a bad thing, as the likes of Jordan Henderson, Thiago and James Milner will all be a year older and Bellingham would have an easier transition into Jurgen Klopp’s first team.

As for the player himself, the former Birmingham man admitted that his fate is now in his own hands, after watching teammate Erling Haaland head to Manchester City.
