Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool in race against time to sign top Prem talent, with Man Utd involved; Arsenal learn Bellingham fate

Youri Tielemans, June 2022

Liverpool are eyeing up a top Premier League midfielder but could run out of time for a deal, while a reporter reveals Arsenal’s Jude Bellingham chances – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.

LIVERPOOL EYE UP YOURI TIELEMANS

Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans is reportedly a transfer target for Liverpool, but Barcelona are more advanced in the race for the Belgian.

The Reds faced calls to significantly bolster their midfield this summer. In the end, they brought in Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus. Although, the Brazilian is out for up to four months with a muscle problem.

And with Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain only just returning from long-term injuries, the focus has swiftly turned to what Liverpool will do to finally resolve their midfield issues.

Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham has proved one of the most-talked-about solutions. One pundit believes Liverpool could submit a £120million bid for the England star to snap him up ahead of their rivals.

According to Sport, though, the Anfield club are chasing a cheaper solution with Leicester star Tielemans. The 25-year-old is into the final year of his contract. That means he can speak to overseas clubs in January and will become a free agent in the summer if he does not decide his future in the winter window.

Although, the report adds that Barcelona have already ‘sounded out’ Tielemans’ camp. His representatives have told the La Liga giants that their client is not discussing his future until after the World Cup.

Nevertheless, Barcelona chief Mateu Alemany is supposedly putting in the groundwork for November and December, when he will try to secure Tielemans’ signature.

And the situation could also affect Manchester United. Barca see Tielemans as a natural successor to Frenkie de Jong, who United are still keen on after failing to sign him in the summer.

Tielemans was the driving force in Leicester’s successive fifth-placed Premier League finishes in recent seasons.

He has scored one goal and assisted another for the Foxes this season. However, Sport concludes new terms are unlikely.
