Liverpool, Tottenham ready to submit offers for ‘one of the best free agents’ amid busy seven-club race

Liverpool and Tottenham are among the top Premier League sides ready to submit contract offers to Milan Skriniar, TEAMtalk has been told.
Skriniar has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in Italy since joining Inter Milan in July 2017. He has made 236 appearances for the club, helping them to win the Serie A title, one Coppa Italia and one Supercoppa Italiana.
Skriniar’s Inter deal expires at the end of the season and this has led to plenty of speculation about his future. The Italian side want him to stay by signing an extension, but no agreement has been found so far.
The defender’s contract situation has alerted several English clubs to a potential bargain transfer. Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United are all ready to send offers to his agent, according to TEAMtalk transfer insider Graeme Bailey – but the race for his signature also involves several other teams.
“Milan Skriniar is genuinely one of the best free agents who could ever become available, he would be right up there with someone like Antonio Rudiger,” Bailey told TEAMtalk.
“Most clubs who are now showing an interest did not believe that he would be leaving Inter, but their attempts to tie him to a new contract have thus far not proven successful.
Inter confident about contract renewal – but major clubs lurking
“Inter still believe that they will convince him to stay but he will very soon be able to field those pre-contract offers.
“Paris Saint-Germain were always and still are, but now all the Premier League top clubs are interested – the chance to land one of the world’s best defenders at 27, does not come along too often.
“So even someone like Manchester City, who don’t have a new centre-half at the top of their wanted list, are ready to put an offer to him. But so are Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle.
“The battle for Skriniar will be fascinating if he decides to leave.”
