Liverpool eye ‘most exciting’ Egyptian talent since Salah, with Reds star convincing chiefs over bargain

Liverpool have transfer interest in rising Egyptian star Ibrahim Adel, with Mohamed Salah reportedly convincing Anfield chiefs over a swoop.

The Reds have caught the eye for their effective and decisive recruitment ever since Jurgen Klopp became manager. A succession of signings, both cheap and expensive, high-profile and unknown, have paid off.

Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson are but a few who have all made their mark at Anfield.

Egypt star Salah is another. Following his 2017 move to Roma, he has hit 160 goals in 263 appearances and proved a standout signing for Klopp.

But, the search for the next generation of talent is ongoing. Liverpool are constantly looking for such talents, with Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho prime examples.

According to 90min, though, they have their eyes on the ‘most exciting’ Egyptian prospect since Salah himself.

Twenty-one-year-old winger Adel has four caps for his country and in fact played at the start of the September international break.

He currently plays in the Egyptian Premier League for Cairo-based Pyramids FC, who finished second in the most recent campaign. Adel, who advanced from their Under-21s team, played 21 matches, scoring six goals and assisting four others in that season.

And as a result of his rise, 90min adds that ‘a host’ of European clubs are monitoring his progress. Alongside Liverpool, Arsenal, Brentford, Brighton and Nottingham Forest are also keen from the Premier League.

But, Salah himself is reportedly doing all he can to ensure Liverpool win the race for Adel. Indeed, he is making sure that Anfield chiefs are ‘fully aware’ of his fellow countryman’s talent.

Ibrahim Adel transfer plan and fee emerges

Adel would currently not qualify for a work permit in the Premier League.

As such, if any of the top-flight clubs signed him in January, they would reportedly loan him out to a side in Europe to smoothen out that process.

A move to Europe would also build up his minutes and confidence in a new and challenging environment.

As for Adel’s fee, Pyramids are reportedly demanding £5million plus add-ons for their star winger.

Danish side FC Nordsjaelland had a £2million bid rejected for Adel earlier this year.

Adel has overall scored 17 goals in 57 outings for Pyramids since he broke through there.

Liverpool would be wise to invest

Liverpool have not got many recruitment calls wrong since Klopp took over and, at £5million, Adel could well be a wise investment for the future.

Egypt clearly have faith in him as they look towards the next generation of talent in the country for upcoming major tournaments.

Given his relative lack of experience and the fact that he is still very much an unknown quantity, a move would of course inherit some risks.

Nevertheless, the idea of loaning him out to Europe would definitely work. It would allow him to build up his match time and also allow his future parent club to keep a close eye on his development.

Adel looks a promising talent for the future given his recent rise and Liverpool and the rest of his suitors would be wise to at least keep tabs on his development.
