Liverpool are reportedly prepared to shelve any potential incomings in January, amid claims a huge double swoop – starting with Jude Bellingham – is being put in place.

The Reds face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Thursday evening to take a big step towards another final. Victory over the two legs will set up a meeting with Chelsea at Wembley next month – and give Jurgen Klopp another shot at silverware. Indeed, one pundit is outlining his thinking as to why the Reds are favourites.

However, if Liverpool are to progress, they must do so without their two leading lights in Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. The pair are both currently in Cameroon on AFCON duty for their respective nations.

Their absence leaves Liverpool lacking in their usual quality in attack. While they can call on Diogo Jota, injuries to other key men means Liverpool may field a somewhat unfamiliar side.

With Naby Keita also away on international duty, reports are suggesting Klopp could look to the January market.

As such, a number of big names are being linked with the Reds.

However, they will reportedly keep their powder dry in January and will instead look to the summer.

And as per Caught Offside, they are growing in optimism that a deal for Bellingham can be secured.

The England midfielder has proved a revelation since moving to the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund. Despite being just 18, Bellingham has four goals and eight assists in 25 appearances this season.

That form has attracted plenty of attention from the Premier League, with Manchester United and Arsenal keen.

However, it is Liverpool who will reportedly secure his signing this summer, with a source informing the outlet that a deal looks to be on.

Jurgen Klopp's Jude Bellingham plan

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reported hopes that rival clubs will be distracted by Erling Haaland’s summer availability, leaving the reds free to pursue a £90m move for his teammate Jude Bellingham.

They state the Reds have a set up that can help win the race for the player. Key figures at Anfield see Bellingham as an “amazing young talent”. Furthermore, they want to build their side around him for years to come.

In addition, they state Bellingham knows in the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, he has two experienced stars who can help maximise his potential.

While Bellingham will fetch a giant fee, Dortmund have previously shown willing to sell their top stars if the price is right.

Luis Diaz signing to follow Jude Bellingham

With Jude Bellingham likely to cost a fair transfer wedge, it’s understandable to see Liverpool looking to safe money where they can.

It’s for that reason why Klopp will likely wait on a prospective deal to bring in Luis Diaz from FC Porto.

The Reds are heavily linked with the Colombian, who has 15 goals and four assists from 24 games this season.

Diaz has a £67m release clause in his contract if activated this month. That drops to nearer £45m in the summer, so there is an obvious benefit to them waiting.

Having cover for Mane and Salah would certainly be nice now.

However, at the cost of £22m, there are obvious benefits in the Reds waiting.

The likes of Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are also reportedly keen. But it is Liverpool who have won the race, per recent reports.

The move for Diaz will end talk Liverpool are looking to sign Leeds star Raphinha.
