Jurgen Klopp discovers Liverpool bid needed to sign explosive Barcelona star, in what could be transfer coup

Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati

Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati celebrate Spain goal

Jurgen Klopp has found out what offer Barcelona will accept for attacker Ansu Fati, should Liverpool come in for him this summer, according to a report.

Fati is enduring a difficult campaign. He has made 36 appearances for Barcelona this term, but a lot of these outings have lasted 30 minutes or less. He is struggling to get into Xavi’s first team ahead of fellow wingers Raphinha and Ferran Torres, while the manager also likes to use Gavi out wide.

Despite Fati’s Barca contract running until June 2027, he could leave the Camp Nou this summer. His agent is reportedly looking into an exit and which teams may be willing to sign him.

Liverpool have been named as potential suitors, although Manchester United and Arsenal are also expected to come forward if Fati emerges on the transfer market.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Barca have made a big decision on the 20-year-old’s future. They have opted to accept bids for him to allow him to move on and find a new club – but only if the right money is paid.

The La Liga giants want €60million (£53m) to sell their academy graduate. Even though he is struggling to get into their starting eleven, they believe he is worth this much due to his massive potential.

It will now be up to Liverpool to decide whether Fati is worth this much and whether they can afford to spend over £50m on him. This will be a tough decision given the fact they may also spend upwards of £100m on midfielder Jude Bellingham. Nicolo Barella and Ismael Bennacer are also targets for that position.

Landing Fati for £53m could prove to be a masterful signing, however. At 20, he has plenty of time to develop and reach the world-class potential which Barca have not quite been able to help him get to.

Liverpool could turn Ansu Fati into world-beater

If Fati does this, then plenty of goals and assists will come his way in a Liverpool shirt. And this will see his price tag skyrocket.

After signing the seven-cap Spain international for £53m, Liverpool may end up making a huge profit on him by selling him back to a Spanish club for £100m in the future.

Of course, this represents a big risk. Fati has had injury problems in the past and is not exactly on top form this season. But Jurgen Klopp is known for getting the best out of players and this could see Fati shine under his guidance.

Another concern Liverpool fans may have is whether Fati is actually needed in their squad. After all, Luis Diaz will soon return from injury, while Cody Gakpo can also play on the left flank. These two players being in the Reds squad would make it hard for Fati to become Klopp’s first-choice left winger.

This is a transfer link to keep an eye on. Klopp and Liverpool must decide whether Fati is worth that £53m price tag, and whether they can afford to buy him as well as players for other positions.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk understands Liverpool are ‘hugely keen’ on a Bundesliga enforcer, but they will have to fend off Tottenham and Manchester City for him.
