Perfect Mohamed Salah replacement named with Jurgen Klopp urged to launch Liverpool approach

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been told that only one player has the necessary qualities to replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield should the Egyptian end up departing this summer.

The Reds are keeping a close eye on the transfer market amid long-term concerns over Salah. The talismanic forward’s deal expires in summer 2023 and talks over an extension are yet to bear fruit. Indeed, Salah recently spoke out over his current situation at Liverpool.

The attacker is said to be asking for £400,000 in weekly wages to sign another contract on Merseyside. That figure would make him the highest earner in the Premier League and well within the top 10 of the world.

So far, however, Liverpool are yet to reach an agreement and the Reds may look to sell him this summer if nothing is in place.

As such, the likes of Leeds winger Raphinha, Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma are on the club’s radar, while FC Porto’s Luis Diaz is another option.

However, pundit Tony Cascarino reckons West Ham star Jarrod Bowen is displaying the ideal qualities Klopp needs.

Bowen, 25, has reached new levels with the Hammers this season. In 32 appearances this season, he has nine goals and eight assists. An England call-up also looks to be imminent.

Bowen is ideal Mohamed Salah replacement

And, speaking to talkSPORT, Cascarino has revealed why he wants Liverpool to bring him in should Salah depart.

“I actually thought, if we lost Mo Salah, who could we logically go after?” the boyhood Reds fan asked.

“Well, the lad Bowen at West Ham ticks all those boxes. He’s tenacious, he chases everything and is decent technically, but not extraordinary.

“I keep thinking who would fit into that Liverpool frontline because Klopp loves those kinds of players in wide areas, who will chase and hassle players. He does all the ugly things for his team, and will always get chances.”

Cascarino added: “Klopp seems to love players that are really tenacious who will never give up and will chase.

“They don’t have to be technically absolutely brilliant, because Mane’s not, they’re good, but they’re not technical geniuses like when you look at Bernardo Silva, David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.

“They’re not like that, but they’re all tenacious, he really loves that.”

Bowen earns high West Ham praise

Hammers boss David Moyes feels former Hull City man Bowen is firmly in the hunt for an England call-up if his form continues.

The manager said: “When players come from the Championship you hope they will develop. Jarrod has taken to it really well.

“Now the biggest thing is that he’s added assists and he’s beginning to find the net again.

“It’s great we’re spreading the goals around and he’s made a big difference.

“When you look at the competition for England; Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish, Jadon Sancho – it’s a decision for Gareth Southgate.”
