Klopp in dreamland as top Liverpool target ‘agrees’ triple-money terms; deal he personally sanctioned now ’99 percent done’

Jurgen Klopp and Alexis Mac Allister

Liverpool are on the verge of making Alexis Mac Allister their first – and marquee – summer signing after agreeing personal terms with the Brighton midfielder, according to a report.

Mac Allister has become Liverpool’s top target to strengthen in midfield this summer. A deal for Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund proved to be out of reach, while Chelsea’s Mason Mount might prefer to join Man Utd.

Therefore, Liverpool have been focusing on Mac Allister to become their main midfield capture. Their confidence on that front has been growing recently, to the extent that some sources have already confidently claimed he will be a Liverpool player next season.

Talk of the deal being confirmed has been premature, but it is getting ever nearer. According to the latest update from Football Insider, Mac Allister has now ‘made up his mind’ and ‘agreed to join Liverpool’ after accepting their offer of personal terms.

By becoming a Liverpool player, he is due to earn a salary in the region of £150,000 per week, which is around three times as much as he currently takes home from Brighton.

Now, the attention will turn to negotiations with his current club over a transfer fee. But Brighton have been expecting to lose Mac Allister this summer anyway.

Therefore, it might not take too long to thrash out an agreement around the £60million mark, which Liverpool are said to be currently ‘finalising’. In fact, Football Insider‘s source has stated that the deal for Liverpool to sign Mac Allister is ’99 percent done’.

The announcement of Mac Allister’s move to Liverpool should arrive in early June. In other words, it could be within a week or two.

Klopp has encouraged Liverpool midfield move

As the report reflects, it was manager Jurgen Klopp who sanctioned the ‘huge-money’ move for a midfield upgrade like Mac Allister.

The World Cup winner will take over from the likes of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner, who are all leaving on free transfers. Coincidentally, Milner looks all set to head in the opposite direction to Mac Allister.

After making 40 appearances this season and scoring 12 goals, Mac Allister should be more ready to make an impact than those he is replacing. The 24-year-old is a more reliable player who still has the potential to develop further.

Perhaps more midfielders could follow him to Anfield this summer to account for the multiple departures, and the fact that remaining options like Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara may be past their prime now.

But the agile and technically gifted Mac Allister now looks almost certain to be the marquee addition to Liverpool’s midfield this summer.
