Klopp ecstatic as Salah agent torpedoes Saudi talk and Gerrard makes Liverpool transfer promise

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and winger Mohamed Salah

The agent of Mohamed Salah has returned with another response Liverpool will love regarding a transfer to Saudi Arabia, while Al Ettifaq manager Steven Gerrard has also allayed fears he’ll swoop.

Speculation recently swirled over Mo Salah being the next Liverpool player targeted by the burgeoning Saudi Pro League.

Fabinho and Jordan Henderson recently completed switches to Al Ittihad and Al Ettifaq respectively. Elsewhere Record claimed Luis Diaz was the subject of a £50m bid from Al Hilal.

Nerves were frayed when reports from Saudi Arabia then suggested Fabinho’s Al Ittihad were prepared to pay £60m for Salah.

What’s more, the Saudi side are reportedly wiling to pay Salah a mind-boggling £155m salary for just two years of service (approx. £1.5m-a-week).

Logic would dictate Liverpool have no intention of selling their most potent attacker. That’s despite the fact the Egyptian ace is now 31 and only has two years remaining on his current contract.

In any case, Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, quickly moved to allay any fears on Twitter.

“If we considered leaving LFC this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer,” wrote Issa. “Mohamed remains committed to LFC.”

However, the story didn’t end there, with subsequent reports cited by Anfield Edition claiming Salah is ‘100 percent’ open to leaving for Saudi Arabia further down the line.

Per the outlet, Salah wishes to see the lay of the land in the Saudi Pro League before making a fresh decision on whether to jump ship in 2024.

Again, Issa has waded in and his follow-up response makes more great reading for Liverpool and Klopp.

In direct response to the Anfield Edition post, Issa tweeted: “Neither Mohamed nor I discussed this with anyone.”

Steven Gerrard makes Salah transfer vow

Elsewhere, Al Ettifaq boss, Steven Gerrard, was recently asked about raiding the Reds for Salah.

Gerrard insisted he would do no such thing, and would only even consider a swoop in the event Salah wins several more Premier Leagues and Champions Leagues with Liverpool first.

“No,” replied Gerrard, when asked if he would target a move for Salah (via the Liverpool Echo). “The answer is no because Mohamed Salah is my favourite player.

“I love Liverpool football club. So Mohamed can stay where he is.

“When he wins more Premier Leagues and Champions League with Liverpool, we will maybe consider it.”
