Kylian Mbappe: Liverpool transfer ON as source explains decisive factor that could help Klopp pip Real Madrid to sensational free move
Liverpool reportedly have a serious chance of sealing the signing of Kylian Mbappe in 2024 amid claims from a respected French journalist why a move to Anfield may well be on the cards.
Mbappe is once again dominating lots of gossip columns with his deal at PSG due to expire in summer 2024. After making clear his wish not to extend his stay beyond that current arrangement, Paris Saint-Germain make it clear they were willing to offload the forward this summer.
However, despite ongoing speculation linking him to the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United, the only bid forthcoming was that from Al Hilal, who wanted to pay Mbappe a staggering €700m (£600m) over a 12-month deal, worth a sickening £11.5m a week.
Ultimately, Mbappe made clear that, for even a year of his career, he was not prepared to accept the Saudi billions just yet.
And while he has since made amends with PSG, agreeing to drop a €100m loyalty bonus in the process, his future continues to be a topic of hot discussion.
Indeed, multiple reports in France already believe Mbappe to have agreed a lucrative free transfer move to Real Madrid in 2024. The Spanish giants, who had no intention of bidding this summer having forked out an initial €103m for Jude Bellingham, have long since been declared favourites to become Mbappe’s next port of call.
However, the Liverpool rumours refuse to go away. And with Al-Ittihad interest in Mo Salah refusing to go away despite their failure this month to get a deal done, reports are gathering pace that Liverpool could ultimately sell the Egyptian to finance a move for Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool remains a possibility
One man who also thinks Liverpool stand a chance of landing the star is French journalist Julien Laurens.
And while he admits Real Madrid still remain in pole position, he claims the influence of Mbappe’s mother could yet steer him towards Merseyside.
Speaking on the ESPN FC Show, Laurens stated: “Real Madrid are still the outstanding favourite, of course, for next summer already.
“I think Liverpool have a case to put forward, especially if he is a free agent. Every big club in England should go for him and he will choose where he feels is best for him.”
On the influence of Mbappe’s mother, Fayza Lamari, and in giving Liverpool hope, Laurens added: “His mum is a big fan of Liverpool, he likes Liverpool, he likes what Liverpool have done under Jurgen Klopp.”
Despite Laurens’ claims, it would still prove a major surprise if Liverpool were to win the Mbappe race. Currently on £700,000 a week in Paris, his wages are currently double Liverpool’s highest earner in Salah.
Moreover, while he can discuss a free-transfer move from January, it’s claimed Real have already struck a deal to pay Mbappe a signing-on bonus of €125m (£107.4m) – meaning it’s only a free move in the purest form that he can move without a fee exchanging hands between the clubs.
Would Liverpool’s owners, FSG, part with such sums? History tells us that is a move they would be unlikely to finance. And while Mbappe’s signing would increase revenues and turnover at Anfield, would they risk their squad harmony by paying one player considerably more than the rest of the squad. At this stage, a move to Liverpool feels some way of becoming a reality.
