Liverpool legend commands Jurgen Klopp to hijack Tottenham move for 10-goal Prem sensation

Jurgen Klopp has a big fan in Liverpool legend John Barnes

Liverpool icon John Barnes has urged Liverpool to sign Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze, who is reportedly a target for Tottenham.

The 24-year-old has arguably been the Eagles’ standout performer this season. Now, several top clubs are circling for his signature.

Although, Crystal Palace will no doubt do everything they can to keep Eze. So, Liverpool will have to put their money where their mouth is to get a deal done.

Indeed, as revealed by TEAMtalk, Roy Hodgson is desperate to keep Eze at Selhurst Park. As a result, Crystal Palace are doing ‘everything they can’ to tie him down to a new contract – with his current deal set to expire in 2025.

This season, the English star has made 36 Premier League appearances for Palace. In the process, he has scored 10 goals and made three assists.

As mentioned, Tottenham have registered an interest in Eze. Also, Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly identified him as a potential replacement for Lionel Messi, who will depart the club at the end of the season.

However, Barnes has now suggested that Liverpool should push to beat the competition to Eze in the summer.

Barnes: Eze is a fantastic player’

Speaking in a recent interview about Eze, as relayed by Football365, Barnes said: “I love him. Really, I love him.

“I think he’s a fantastic player. He’s an attacking midfield player with a good attitude. He can play one touch, two touch and can dribble, pass and score goals.

“He’s a great player that could fit into any of the top teams in the country. I would absolutely love him at Liverpool. Absolutely.

“Whether Liverpool are interested is another thing but he would fit into the team as one of the three midfield players, as a number ten or as a wide forward”

“He’s very intelligent and very good on the ball. I think he’s been Crystal Palace’s best player.”

Barnes was also asked about Darin Nunez’s first season at Liverpool, in which he has scored 15 goals in all competitions.

He added: “Nunez’s season has been stop-start due to the struggles of the team. He came in with the right attitude. He’s committed and one of our better players in terms of his energy, pace, power and driving the team forward.

“He’s shown the kind of commitment that Liverpool fans like to see. Next season we will see the best of him. I’ve always liked Darwin Nunez because he creates a spark in the crowd and within the team and he’s very aggressive. That’s how we like our strikers to play.”
