Liverpool have been handed a boost in pursuit of Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch as the German club is warming to the idea of selling him.

The Reds are still in the market for another midfielder between now and transfer deadline day. Liverpool managed to strike a deal for Wataru Endo, but Jurgen Klopp is still keen on adding another option.

Having lost Jordan Henderson and Fabinho in quick succession, it makes sense that they are still on the lookout for another midfield addition.

Plenty of midfield options are being considered and Gravenberch seems to be near the top of Klopp’s list. Although Liverpool have struggled to strike a deal so far as Bayern Munich have been reluctant to sell the Dutch midfielder up until this point.

However, a recent development has handed Liverpool a boost in pursuit of the 21-year-old. According to 90min, Bayern Munich are ‘relaxing’ their stance on selling the midfielder this summer.

Despite Gravenberch struggling to get much first team action last season, Bayern seemed keen to keep the 21-year-old around as cover.

While plenty of people think Liverpool are in the market for another defensive-minded midfielder, Thomas Tuchel actually sees the Dutch star as a more attacking player.

“I see him in an attacking position,” Tuchel told reporters. “When he was subbed on in pre-season games, he was very good and always had influence.

“But there’s a lot of competition there. I see his strengths under pressure from opponents and in dribbling. I’m very happy with the way he’s training. If he’s patient, he’ll get his chance.”

Liverpool looking to beat Man Utd to his signature

Along with Liverpool, Man Utd are also in the market for a new midfielder. Erik ten Hag’s side have looked sluggish in the Premier League so far and their midfield has looked suspect.

While both clubs are interested in the 21-year-old, Christian Falk has tipped Liverpool to beat their Premier League rivals to his signature.

“I think Klopp is a very good guy to pursue people, so, at the moment, I would see Liverpool being at the front in this race,” Falk told Caught Offside. “For Gravenberch, he wouldn’t necessarily mind which club it is. He wants to leave.

“If Liverpool get concrete, this transfer could happen really fast, but you can see that they are testing the market. They tried to get Andre of Fluminense, but they didn’t succeed. Perhaps they go to the next name on the list. With Gravenberch, they know what they’d be getting, though there’s also Manu Kone to consider.

“I heard Gladbach is also expecting an offer from Liverpool soon because, after his injury, he’s become cheaper – before a suitor would have to pay about €50m, now you can get him, perhaps, for about €35m.”

Liverpool will have been boosted by these recent developments as a move now seems more than likely. With Bayern now open to selling the star, Klopp’s side have the green light to move in.
