Liverpool to rival Nottingham Forest for £32m star as Klopp scrambles to sign Caicedo alternative

Ibrahim Sangare (PSV Eindhoven) during the UEFA Europa Conference League match against Leicester
Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, who has recently been linked with Nottingham Forest.
It’s no secret Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring in a new midfielder before the transfer window closes and looks set to miss out on his two top targets.
Liverpool have parted ways with Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Naby Keita since last season.
The Merseyside club saw a £110m bid accepted for Moises Caicedo but the Brighton star turned them down in favour of joining Chelsea.
Now, the Blues are also favourites to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton, who Klopp is also keen on.
Liverpool will therefore have to turn his attention to alternative targets and could derail a Nottingham Forest transfer in the process.
According to ESPN Netherlands, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are all keen on Sangare.
The report also confirms that Nottingham Forest have seen an offer rejected for the 25-year-old.
With that in mind, we could potentially see a bidding war take place for Sangare over the next couple of weeks.
Liverpool to battle Forest, Bayern for Sangare
Sangare has the ability to play as a defensive, central or attacking midfielder so could provide cover in several areas for Liverpool next season.
Cody Gakpo also knows Sangare well from their time together at PSV, which could give the Reds an advantage in negotiations.
The Ivorian international made 29 Eredivisie appearances for PSV last term, scoring five goals and making one assist in the process. He also played a key role in helping the Dutch club to win the KNVB Cup.
As mentioned, Nottingham Forest are one of the club’s with a concrete interest in signing Sangare, while Bayern Munich also provide stiff competition.
The versatile player is currently valued at €37.5m (approx. £32.4m), which shouldn’t be a problem for Liverpool considering they have just put £110m on the table for Caicedo.
Liverpool will have to move quickly to beat the competition to Sangare’s signature, so it will be interesting to see if they make an opening offer in the next few days.
Equally, if Nottingham Forest match PSV’s price tag for the midfielder, they still have a good chance of getting a deal done, too.
