Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool are poised to complete a deal with LaLiga side Athletic Club, with Fabrizio Romano confirming a medical has been booked and terms are “agreed”.

All eyes are on who Liverpool draft in to be part of their midfield rebuild this summer. Alexis Mac Allister looks set to be the first major name through the door, while today’s Transfer Gossip detailed Ruben Neves potentially being the second.

However, moves in Liverpool’s academy are also bubbling away nicely and according to multiple reports, 16-year-old forward, Elijah Gift, is poised to return to Spain.

The lively right winger was born in Corella in northern Spain, though found his way into Liverpool’s youth ranks by way of Huddersfield Town.

Gift has featured 17 times in Liverpool’s Under-18s this term, notching three goals and three assists along the way.

However, he’s now in line to return to Spain by joining Athletic Club who will pay around €1m for his signature.

That’s according to Bilbao-based outlet, El Correo, as well as trusted transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano.

El Correo were first to break the news, reporting an agreement between Athletic and Liverpool for the teenage winger is ‘very close’.

A  €1m fee (approx. £870,000) will make its way to Merseyside and Romano subsequently shed further light on the move.

The journalist tweeted Gift will join Athletic on a “permanent deal” and sign a “long-term” contract.

Gift is set to undergo a medical in Bilbao and the Spanish side have already agreed terms with Liverpool over the move.
