Journalist reveals Mohamed Salah response to Juventus phone call amid growing claims of Liverpool exit

Mohamed Salah is reportedly strongly considering a summer switch to Juventus following claims the Bianconeri approached the Egyptian over a move this week.

Salah’s future is the subject of plenty of column inches of late. With his deal due to expire in summer 2023, talks over an extension have so far failed to see an agreement reached. Liverpool, of course, want their talismanic frontman to stay – but owners FSG seemingly have a limit.

Indeed, Salah knows this will likely be the final big-money contract of his career. As such, he is, understandably, looking to maximise his earnings and take home a salary that reflects his status in the game.

Given he has scored at least 23 goals each season in his time at Anfield, he is one player Liverpool can ill afford to lose.

FSG, however, do not want to break their wages structure. While they are willing to make Salah the best paid player in their history, talk of a £400,000 a week deal is out of the question.

Currently, Salah earns £200,000 a week at Anfield. Reports suggest he is looking for a deal worth significantly north of that. Perhaps more worrying for Liverpool, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently provided a worrying update.

While he says Salah is not agitating to leave Anfield, contract talks between the two parties have broken down.

And amid claims they are yet to even resume, the possibility of Salah leaving Anfield appears to be growing louder by the day.

FSG to be given a headache on Salah

Indeed, the likes of Barcelona have been mentioned in dispatches.

However, the main interest of late appears to come from Juventus. To that end, a report earlier this week suggests Juventus have made contact over a potential summer switch.

Perhaps more worrying for Liverpool, is that in allowing Paulo Dybala to depart, Juve will seemingly be able to meet Salah’s wage demands.

Furthermore, they also plan to submit a mammoth big-money offer which is sure to give FSG a headache.

Mohamed Salah to Juventus talk heightens

Amid all the uncertainty, claims in Italy claim the end for Salah and Liverpool could be nigh. And amid growing talk that a parting of ways is on the cards, Italian journalist Luca Momblano has confirmed Juventus have been in touch.

Furthermore, rather than blow Juve off, Salah was seemingly very much flattered by their approach.

And rather than giving them a ‘no’, the former Roma man appears open to a possible return to Serie A.

“He hasn’t rejected Juventus, the agent hasn’t rejected them either,” Moblano said via Calciomercato. “He’s asked, and I think he’s done the same with other clubs, to catch up after the World Cup qualifiers.

“And to Juventus, he said he was very, very honoured by the call.”

Whether Liverpool sell or not will surely depend on the size of the offer. Furthermore, some sort of compromise will also need to reached on a new deal, as the Reds will not allow Salah to enter the final 12 months of his contract.
